Is spaying normally priced like this?

Most vets will charge over $100.00 to spay a dog. Spaying is the very invasive surgery and takes alot more effort than just neutering a dog. City and County animal shelters will usually offering spaying services for cheap, also there are non profit organizations that have low cost spaying and neutering services. Most of the low cost places will charge you based upon your income. Personally I know what goes into a spay and I would pay the money to make sure my dog gets the best surgery and aftercare possible! I have also seen many animals get spayed at these low cost places and not have any problems what so ever. It is really your decision!

I purchased a spay certificate from my local Humane Society for $55 for a 31 pound dog. The cost will depend on the size of the dog. The Humane Society offers reduced cost because they are just so damned happy to get another animal out of the breeding cycle. It is the responsible thing to do. If your local municipality doesn't offer it, they should have a list of referrals available for low cost/no cost spay options.

thank you for spaying your dog!

That question you posted was about a cat not a dog. In alot of places they have low cost spay/neuter programs. In CT we have special programs that are just for cats. And we have vouchers you can get in certain areas for dogs. Dog usually cost more than cats do, but look around in your area. Call your vet and see if they know any low cost programs. Or call your local shelter as they may be able to get you the info for those programs.

I just had a Shih Tzu spayed on this past Wednesday. It cost me a total of $79 at the local SPCA clinic. That included a heartworm test, a microchip, the spay, and the pain meds.

You definitely want to check with your local SPCA. If there isn't one near by, visit Animal Control and ask for info on low-cost/free neuter clinics.

I got my dog neutered at the SPCA a couple of weeks ago. The total for everything came to $90. He's a fairly big dog (70 lbs.) so for a smaller dog, it would cost a bit less.

I am in MD and am getting ready to spay my puppy soon too. It's $60 for the spay fee and 40 if I want pain meds for her. If she were any smaller than 5 lbs. she would need an IV for fluids too and that was $46.

Call your local humane society or SPCA and ask. Many have lost cost spay clinics. We spay dogs for around $50 and the level of care is excellent.

The price will differ from place to place. You need to check with vets in your area. My friend in Ft Myers Florida paid $75. I myself paid $250 in Toronto Canada. The size of the dog will also make a difference. A large dog will more often than ot cost more than a small one.

it varies everywhere
most costs for small dogs are 100-300
i got mine done for 110
then a organization [pound] payed for 1/2 of it

it also depends on the size where i went they charged 100 bucks more for a 50 pounds + dog
and 150 for a 100 + dog

try low cost clinics
call vets
ask around
