i am against banning pitbulls and was pleasantly surprised at most of the answers on this question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070901171254AAAKqct&r=w#EIMvP2TJBnBy5vrsT8D4

when browsing similar questions about this great breed ive found most people are against the breed generally
its good to see some people sticking up for one of the most loyal dog breeds

My dog has a cut on his muzzle and of course it's Saturday of a long weekend. It's about 3/4" and not too deep.

Is there any relatively safe way to remove the hair from around the injury to allow wound closures to stick or a bandage to stick over it? To keep it protected?

Obviously on the muzzle there isn't any good way to wrap it in gauze without bandaging the poor dogs mouth shut and I don't think that is a good idea overnight.

Thanks

We recently got a puppy from a woman in our area. She is 6 weeks old and is a miniature poodle. She has a major flea problem. We cannot yet treat her with the monthly flea treatments ( Frontline, Advantage, ect.). We have been combing her daily (minus today) but it seems to make her more itchy and uncomfortable. Today we went to the pet shop to see if there was treatment for her but at her age there is little to nothing we can do! She must be 12 weeks old before she can get that treatment but i do not want to see her suffer. I read that puppies can get anemia due to flea infestation and do not want that AT ALL. The man at the pet shop said that, even at 6 weeks, it was okay to flea dip her. I also read in numerous places that that is not a good idea. I have no idea what to do for her!! Please help!!!!!!!!!

If the mother's purebreed status is already registered, but the father's isn't quite through the paper work, is it safe to allow them to have the puppies knowing that the father's registration will come through sooner or later so the puppies can be registered and sold as purebreeds?

i got a dog from a rescue center a month ago and all they said is she's between 1 and 3 years old staffordshire bull terrier,
ive seen other staffordshire's in the street and on the web and allthough she has the same face/basic shape as them she is really skinny you can see her ribs bad and her legs dont look meaty enough to carry her, i have been feeding her raw black tripe and boiled white rice, she seems to eat as much as my friends fully grown labrador but doesent seem to be putting weight on in any of the places she needs it which are her legs chest and stomach(where her hair get thin on her underneath)
i have treated her for worms when i first got her which should rule that reason out,
any ideas what i should feed her or what types of exercise would benefit her i take her swimming quite regularly (once a week) which she really enjoys but what else could i do for her? any help greatly appreciated as when people see me walking her they look at me as though i dont feed her,

She's never bitten, but she becomes very fearful if you try to do anything to her--even flea medicine! I've never been able to cut her nails, and can't even keep her shots up to date. Now she has a medical issue and I really don't know what to do. Ideas?

As you likely know, in America it's against the law to bring dogs (except for service dogs) into places where food is served.

If there were a proposed law giving restaurant and store owners the opportunity to choose if they allow dogs into their store or not... Would you be for this law?

Would the law be more appealing to you if dogs entering these public places needed to be certified in some way (such as with a CGC)?

Obviously I'm asking dog people so it's not a poll of the general public. I'm curious how dog people would feel about this.

I have a 3 year old pug and when I feed him he will stand there and look at the food for ages and keep looking at me. I go inside and its like he is waiting for me to come back to take the food back and when he realises I am not he finally eats. Is this a pack kind of behaviour or something? Do other dogs do this?

My 5 month old male siberian husky was fixed 10 days ago, but my husband and I noticed that he hasn't been eating normal for the past 2 days. Usually he eats like its his last meal, but lately he won't hardly touch the food. He has also been very lethargic. Normally he is pretty hyper and playful, but he has been laying around a lot. He is urinating regularly and is having solid bowel movements, so im not sure what the problem could be. Anyone have any ideas?

Can anyone supply me with a suitable bottle for feeding tiny puppies? Over the years i have tried syringes, eye droppers, banana shaped bottles with teats that are too small. There must be something more suitable.

I have always gotten my dogs groomed by a professional, but I now have a 5-month old Goldendoodle and I saw they now have a Flowbee type device for dogs. I wondered if anyone has used it on their dog. I would love to groom my dog at home.

I'm feeding neighbors dogs, and she keeps them tied up outside, i feel really sorry for them. She is out of town at the moment. But, ant's are a real BIG problem with her dogs and their food. So, I only put a little food in the dishes, the dogs apparently don't eat that much. (their chihuahuas). But, ants are just everywhere!! Fireants at that!! (I'm in SC) I am going to mention this "problem" to her when she returns. But is there something non/toxic to put IN there food to keep them out, besides the "water"trick??

Hi all! I was hoping someone could help. I was in the pet food store this morning and a very nice man was in with his pup. It was of a breed I've never heard of before. It was a beautiful pup and about the size of a Min Pin right now at 16 weeks old.

He told me it was a Golden Doberman! I asked where he found such a dog and he told me it is a European line very rare.
Does anyone have any info on this breed? Have you seen or heard of this breed before? Is it exclusive to Europe, or is it here in the US too?
Thanks!

Since it is clear that Michael Vick should suffer capital punishment for his crimes against animalanity, do you think he should die by a) drowning b) electrocution c) being ripped apart by pit bulls or d) strangulation? These are all methods by which he personally murdered dogs. It only seems fitting that....

We have a 11-month old yorkie poo that we got our 5 kids for christmas. He was perky, fun and energetic when he was little. But all the sudden when one of the new friends came over, he would growl really meanly to them or even bite. Except for the 5 friends that met him when he was little, hes mean to everyone else. He's very nice and perky to us, but it seems like wherever we go, we are nervous that he may not like them. It's like sometimes hes nice to this one person, but mean to another. We don't want to give him away, but it seems like that could be the answer. Any excercises or tips to help us solve this problem? Is he overprotective? Agressive? HELP US!

TREAT ME KINDLY, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
DO NOT BREAK MY SPIRIT with a stick, for although I should lick your hand between blows, your patience & understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
SPEAK TO ME OFTEN,for your voice is the world's sweetest music,as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ears.
WHEN IT IS COLD & WET,please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal,no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privledge of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.Though had you no home,I would rather follow you through ice & snow than rest upon the sofest pillow in the warmest home in the land, for you are my god & I am your devoted worshipper.
KEEP MY PAN FILLED WITH FRESH WATER, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
