Breed Banning is ridiculous. It's like banning guns. You can take away a criminal's gun but all they will do is find a new weapon and it's the same with dogs. You can ban pitbulls but all the losers that don't know how to handle them will do is find another breed to ruin.
Pitbulls are wonderful dogs and it is only in the hands of idiots that any breed becomes a problem.

My experience at Yahoo Answer's Dogs section has been overwhelming SUPPORT for the breed even when it is not a breed a person would prefer to own.
I think if all the supporters of the breed, whether they own or even want to own that breed for themselves, would start calling city and state representatives, as appropriate, to speak against breed specific legislation and to let their representatives know that their VOTE will be determined on the stance of their rep. on the issue, maybe they'd find something worthy of targeting, like busting dog fighting rings,
taking child molesters off the streets for good, etc.

To me it is honestly quite simple. All dog breeds are created by man, for man for a purpose. The pit bull incidents you hear of is because of a owner who does not know his breed and its potential. For example you can blame a boxer for breaking a glass when you pin it up with no exercise and put it in a room full of breakable glasses stocked to the roof. The problem here is not the breed, it is owners not understanding the breed and training it properly.

bad owners, media, mishandling and misidentified are some of the reasons pit bulls have such a bad rep.
most people who are against them don't even know one, let along been around a pit bull. they go by what they hear so they fear them.
it is the bad owners who started this mess and i truly pray they will start having to pay a Hugh price for animal cruelty of any kind,
i am always glad when i see someone sticking up for this breed (banning of any breed will never solve anything).

i am against banning of any breed and i do own an APBT!

Breed specific legislation, like picking your nose in public, is an embarrassment to the intelligence of our nation.
No data suggests one breed is more dangerous than another and the fact this data does not exist should be enough to stop the creation of breed specific laws in their tracks. However, not to my surprise the lack of hard data and facts does not seem to matter to a hysterical public nor to an ignorant governing body that only cares about the majority vote to keep them in office.
Law makers should be ashamed to show their faces in public as supporters of these laws and you should be ashamed to do so as well.

thank you beboo, for proving that morons who are uneducated still exist.
Pitbulls do not have locking jaws.

Pitbulls kill approixmately 3 children a year - while over 2000 children are killed by their own parents - hmmm I wonder which is more dangerous

Ever heard of the little girl that was killed by a pomeranian??

What about the lady in Europe whose face was ripped off, causing her to need a face transplant, that was a labrador.

You don't need to worry about educated folks, you need to worry about morons who are unwilling to educate themselves and who are, unfortunately voters. . .
