I recently got a puppy, very cute girl. She’s two and a half months. I want to spade her because I just don’t want to deal with the possibility of her getting pregnant. But I've been hearing a lot of bad things about the procedure. I hear that they lose a lot of there energy or they tend to gain weight and are unable to lose weight. Is this true? Are there any other negative side effects? It’s making me have second thoughts. What should I do?? PLEASE HELP! Thank you!

OK so my dad just let Starr our dog back in the house after he Sprayed her with Adams Tick & Flea remover, and now she's as hyper as h*ll and wont stop running around and rubbing against the furnitrure.

And my dad let her back in because "She'd get more fleas if let her stay out there". Now the house the furniture and evertyhing else stinks.

Can I trust the 1800petmeds type of places to get medication? Also, do they offer prescriptions anyway? I have a five year old dog (maltese/shiatsu) that I have had since he was six weeks. He gets a urinary tract infection about once every six months. I want to just get him medicine. Every time it happens, my vet wants to run all the tests on him that we have already run (it costs 1000.00 each time). I just want to get him the medication he needs and get him on it without all this extra expense every six months. His blood work, urine samples, xrays and any and all tests come back completely normal. He is eating fine, drinking fine. I just know he has another infection because he strains to pee and when he does, it is just drops of blood. Three days on an antibiotic and he is fine (even though I finish it out). Any help would be appreciated.

At the moment I have a valley bulldog, he isn't that big. But I really want to get a second dog (a chihuahua). My bulldog is well trained, and a rough or vicious dog. I know that chihuahuas are very fragile dogs. But I see pictures of chihuahuas with larger breed dogs all the time, and even on breeders websites.

Do you think it would be okay to have a valley bulldog, and a chihuahua??

Please no dumb answers, I rather not waste my time reading them. Thanks.

I have a chihuahua/dachshund mix, 3 years old. I play with him for about an hour a day and walk him once in the morning and once at night. He also has dozens of dog toys that he doesn't play with. Instead, he sleeps all dayand night! He has always been like this, so I guess he is just naturally lazy. But I'm scared that he might just be bored out of his mind. Is it ok that he sleeps so much?

I work at an animal shelter. On Wednesday, a one year old Pitt Bull will be put up for adoption. They want me to name her. She is a redish brown color. She has brown eyes. She is very sweet and lovabe. I want a name that repersents a new start. Or to repersent her sweet nature. Any ideals?

No mean resposes please.

I have a shiba inu, male four years old, and he has been neutered. The last two days, he has been trying to get out of the front door, which he never has done, and whines and even lays by the front door. Then he will run around in circles and then go lay on everyones bed in the house, which he never does either. He is fine when we let him in the fenced yard, he is eating and drinking and going to the bathroom, but he is just not himself. If he keeps doing this, we will take him to the vet. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? And no, we have no bad storms moving in.

Ok... I know the obvious solution is to just not put clothes on her... which I am not. I just don't understand WHY. She is 2 years old, and I have been putting clothing on her occasionally all of her life. I generally only put clothes on her when it is a dress-up occasion (like a wedding) or if I think she is cold.

However, the past few times I have tried to put clothes on her, she has tried to bite me. =[ She is not a violent dog at all. She is very small (4.5lbs). Do you think putting clothes on her could be hurting her in some way? She only bites when I go to put her feet inside.

I have noticed that aussie sheperds seem to do well, any other breeds? I know sometimes a lot depends on the individual dog, and his/ her personality. I have a black lab and as loyal as he is, I could never trust him off leash.

Do you think the race tracks should finance and support the feeble and used up dogs instead of the kennels starving and slaughtering them at the end of their "run"?

if a dog has attacked a lot of people isnt it supossed to be put down? my grandpa was attacked by one this weekend that has attacked before and the owners did nothing about it. it even angered me that they would bring it to a party where there were kids playing! my 9 month old had played with it hours before the attack! the owner told everyone after it happened that it had done it before and even killed 2 of their cats! souldnt it be reported and be forced to put it down before it does it again?

Hi everyone i have a 12 year old staff named 'chuggy' he became unwell yesterday because i caught him eating in my next door neighbours bins because they're to lazy to put them out on the day or keep them locked up.

Well anyway after he got really ill and started acting strange: wasn't eating, eyes drowzy wouldn't go to sleep. I thought it was time.

However this afternoon he was sick a couple of times and he went a crap and that. Then i realised he had blood coming from his anus!! So i called up the vet and told him what happened and he said its gone off food which has gave him bad digestive problems.

Im stuck for what to do, he looks much better now and is drinking water, and his body is fighting back i know it is. He is beginning to get better i can see it.

Should i stay by his side and let his body compensate, because this can be good for future purposes or should i go down the vets and get him a shot of antibiotics or drugs. Which in my opinion he doesn't really need?

was drooling, but her boxer didn't drool at all?!??!!??!

she said the people she got her boxer from, they breed their dogs so they do not drool.

Can you do that, breed the dogs so they do drool?

that is not apart of their characteristics, and isn't it necessary to drool, esp when it's hot?

We had some people move in next door to us and they had 2 dogs that had very bad fleas. We lived next door with 3 dogs who until then had no fleas or anything. Then I guess the fleas came over into our yard and got on our dogs. The neighbors have moved and we have tried to do lawn treatments, we have dipped our dogs, we have tried frontline sprays and spot treatments and our poor dogs are miserable. I was just wondering if there is anything that you can recommend. I have heard that the K9 advantix is really good and i was wondering if any one thought that would be a good idea. I am in desperate need of advice! Thanks
