GREAT DOGS but there dumb owners that destroys the breeds good name people need to get the facts straight, they are not dangerous by nature.

Its people that use their loyalty and their power for illegal fights and to make it worse, the news never post the good deeds that they do and only what will give them ratings. American Temperament Test Society test all breeds of dogs and pit bulls being the number one most tested dog. Pit Bulls had a passing rate of 82% or better -- compared to only 77% of the general dog population. These temperament tests consist of putting a dog through a series of unexpected situations, some involving strangers. Any signs of unprovoked aggression or panic in these situations result in failure of the test. The achievement of Pit Bulls in this study disproves that they are inherently aggressive to people. Now if their the most tested and are one of the highest scores then the general dog populaction whats that tell you. Dogs learn from their owners and the enviorment they are rasied in.
The sad reasion there so miss used is becase that they are very loyal to their masters no matter how their trained. They have a very high drive to plz their master and being very stroung. And when we get people flapping off at the gum about them just because of what they hear from other people who know nothing about the breed. Prejudice is all the same whether it is with people or animals, & it is all out of ignorance. You hear a child has been hurt but you never hear that the child is messing with the dog or it it was abused or been trainded illegaly. 75 percent of so called pitbull bites are not pitbulls at all. There are 20+ breeds that are commonly incorrectly identified as pit bulls.. Go here( http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/... ) try and find a real pit bull and i put my money on it you wont find it your first time.
People are so sadly miss informed and listen to idiots about a breed that they have no knowlage about and make up myths to make a headline. THE MEDIA WILL NEVER POST REAL NEWS ABOUT THEM

I have had pitts and so does my brother. I currently have a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier (which is a cusin to the Pitt). She is a smart pup that is great with my kids. Any dog can be a good dog as long as its trained right. Growing up my parents raised Rottys and we never had a problem with any of them. I am a firm believer that the dog is not born mean/nasty... it is trained that way

I think the American Pit Bull Terrier is an awesome dog!!!!!! they can excel in all kinds of different things from weight pulling, agility, obedience, therapy dogs, search & rescue, the DEA's top drug dog is a APBT....they have saved families from fires, been decorated war heroes....this list goes on & on but all we ever get to hear are negative stories...it's time this breed gets the good recognition it deserves!!!!!

Pit Bulls are very good dogs. It's the owners that teach them to fight. I have a half pitbull and have had multiple friends who owned pit bulls. All of them are extremely good pets. I

Pit bulls are very loyal dogs, and I think this is why you can teach them to be so agressive.. they just want to please their owner. I don't have a source for that, it's just my personal observation.

I don't know why so many people teach these dogs to fight each other. It's horrible to the individual dogs involved, and as there are many ignorant people, they have smeared the pit bulls good name.

They can be wonderful dogs, but since they are so muscular and vicious if trained to be, a lot of people take advantage of them and use them for fighting. Stupid Vick--he should be pitted against the fiercest one he trained and he gets no weapons to use! What punishment did he get--no job? What kind of punishment is that? He killed dogs, trained them to fight, and he's not allowed to be a football player. Oh wow. What a big punishment. Since it's so huge he's definitely not going to fight more dogs, right? (I'm being sarcatic.)

They are wonderful dogs. I am going to get one, for sure, when I grow up.

They are very loyal and easily trainable dogs. This in cobination with their strength and tendacy to lock jaw makes them easy target for dispicable dog fighting rings.
They are not naturally blood thirsty dogs or anything like that, it's all in the training.
I had a pitbull that I got as a puppy. He would allow my mom's nasty little dog to beat up on him and just run to me. He a very gentle dog because he trained to be that way.

Some are mean but it's the people that teach them to be mean.
If you got one as a puppy & showed it as much love & gentleness as any other breed it would be fine.
