Dogs - September 2007

I honestly dont see the point in having a dog if you aren't going to let it be just as much in your life as a kid would be. They deserve love just as much as we do, i dont think they deserve to be out in the cold or out when it is really hot, I mean its ok to keep them out there sometimes because i know they do like it, and they like to run.... but i think dogs should be a part of the family..What do you think?

I know.. sounds stupid.. but I'm new to a puppy! We brought home our shih-tzu whom we were told was a girl.. I even double checked her paperwork.. we're supposed to have a girl... yet, she has a boy-like thing on her belly! Do puppies have an umbilical cord stump left after 10 weeks - that's the only thing I can think of!? There were only two puppies, one white -male and one tri-color -female.. so, I don't see how the paperwork would say a tri-color female unless they totally screwed up. And please, I am asking for some help here.. don't tell me to watch her/him pee... even I know that some male puppies squat to pee! And.. her bum is dark colored and very 'hairy' so please don't judge me for not checking there... I honestly can't see anything either way! Thanks

We just got him and I really don't want to smack him because he is just a baby yet. He urinates and has his BM's outside, but sometimes he still urinates inside on the floor. He is about the equivalent of a one year old child and I just think that is too young to smack him for doing bad. (I would rather not hit him at all really!) Any other suggestions would be good though.

The very minute I let her outside to go potty, she starts barking and barks non stop until I let her back in. What is this little dog thinking? She barks until it about makes me crazy on and on and on. Makes me feel like paddling her butt with a newspaper. She just will not shut up and when I let her out at 5 am before I go to work, I am sure the neigbors do not appreciate her barking. What to do?

She only barks when scared, and it's more like whinning. She doesn't even bark when she is around other dogs, even if the other ones are barking. I have not ever heard her bark. Any idea why?

ok i found out my dog was messing around with another dog my dog is a pure bred rotty the other was a mutt anyway the vets told me that they would spay her but how long does the operation last? what do i do when she gets home? and how long will she be at the vet? oh one more question who long will i have to look out for her?

The reason I asked this was because I watched some videos on Youtube that made it sound like they were.They kept saying How would you like it if your family member was baned,etc.

Dog barfed 4 times 10 minutes after taking his monthly heartworm preventative. Should I give him another one? It was not the medication that made him sick, he had gotten into some food he should not have gotten into, chinese take out, and then played WWF smackdown with a buddy of his. So the tummy upset did not come from the medication. Should I go ahead and give him another? Im pretty much sure he threw up the first one completely.

Hi Guys: I just adopted this new puppy from a breeder down the street. She said her dog got out and so she didn't know what kind of dog it was - it looks like a pitbull daschund mix to me.

Anyway, it's been biting rather aggressively - she said it's only 3 months old. Any recommendations?

I also don't know WHAT in the world to name it. My mom and brother think it's so ugly, but I think he's absolutely adorable. So any names you can come up with would be great.

I've heard of a vegetarian diet for dogs with allergies or G.I. problems, but to make him less aggressive.

Okay so my poor greyhound, Annie, got her tail broken in a door. We at least think that its broken. It's Labor Day weekend on a Sunday so vet care isn't really an option. The wound isn't very big (less than a pencil eraser) but it won't quit bleeding! I am very concerned and was wondering if anyone knew what to do to make the blood clot and quit bleeding. She is doing well for now, the bleeding pretty much stopped but I want to make sure that it doesn't start up again. My mom went to go get "Blood stop" to help but I need to know what else I can do for her! I am giving her lots of water because of the blood loss and am with her as we speak. Please help, I REALLY appreciate it!! :D
