Why do people let their dogs bark and bark and bark and bark and bark and bark for hours at a time?

I don't know, I wish I did. To me it's like letting a baby cry and cry and cry and cry without going to check on it.

Because they don't know how to control their dog properly.

Equally, it is my own opinion, but if they can't control their dog's barking level, it's annoying the neighbors, and IF they have the spare money, they should damage it's voice box {surgically} so it doesn't bark any more.

But that's just me. And yes, I know some animal people call it inhumane, but it's more humane than having the dog put down just because of a bark control problem.

I had a neighbor who did that. It turned out the person didn't actually live in the house but left the dog in the back yard because he had no other place to keep it. I got so sick of hearing the dog that I called animal control and they took it away.

Maybe the owners are gone at some points. It is not like they let them. Dogs bark, they can't help it. But the owners should tell thier dogs firmly no if they bark.

Because like they are oblivious to their kids noise, they are oblivious to the dog's noise. In short, they are clueless and don't care about neighbors. However, many locales have noise ordinances and the dog can be reported and eventually fining or impounding can take place.

Because most people don't speak dog and most dogs don't speak people so they have trouble communicating. Resulting, in their dog not being able to understand the words "STOP BARKING"

I am sorry that some people are irresponsible for their animals and leave their dogs out like that. They shouldn't have animals if they don't want to pay attention to them.
