Hmmm. Perhaps you should think about running to the bank-you are aware it will cost you a couple thousand if she needs a lifesaving emergency c-section, right? Many small breeds typically need c-sections. Without them. mother and pups die.

You had 2 MONTHS to ask questions-why wait until now? Too cheap to go to the vet because hell, you think you should make money, not lose money, by breeding mutts? Sorry. No one here is going to try and save you money. You better hope she doesn't require a c-section, and that she doesn't have any trouble.

You call a vet. What you SHOULD have done a LONG time ago was EDUCATE yourself, or better yet, you SHOULD have SPAYED her. Do you have any clue what she bred with? And why did you ever think allowing a mixed breed to have puppies was a good idea? Why do you ask for a vet on here? What are they supposed to do, an on-line c-section?!?! A good book on canine reproduction is 200 PAGES! How are we supposed to tell you what you need to know here in 15 seconds? I pray your poor dog doesn't suffer for your irresponsibility!

Even if there is a vet that frequents this board it is not like it will help your dog if she needs a C-section and many small breed dogs do in fact need them.
You should have done some research before you bred your dog and you should never have bred a mutt because we do not have a shortage of mutts in the world.
Get off the computer and call a vet!!!

I'm not a vet, but have raised dogs most of my life (74 years). You do not have to do a heck of a lot, your pom/chi will do most of the work. Make sure she is comfortable, in clean surroundings. Keep any distractions at a distance (this includes you!). If she is a healthy dog, even though small, she should come through it all right. Make sure she has plenty of clean, fresh water. Do not feed her to much. Good luck!!!

If the pups aren't to big for her she should do it herself. if not you need to get her to a vet immediatly as both mom and pups can die.
Both the pom and chi often do need c-sections so don't wait to long I do realize it's a holiday in the US but there are emergency vets and you may need to get to one pretty soon.

First off, relax. The mom does most of the work. Get a big box that has the sides cut off and put tons of newspaper topped with blankets in it. The puppies usually come every 15-30 minutes apart. If any of the puppies aren't breathing when born, hold it in your hand and rub it's back hard- this helps it's heart start. Do this until they make a crying noise because that means their throat is clear and they can breathe- if not, get a medicine dropper and empty their passage way. When she is done having them, let them all eat from the mom. They will drink her milk every 2 to 3 hours so make sure she has access to the puppies. Also, buy a heater pad from the pet store and keep it on low under the dog bed the puppies are in- they can't control their body temperature so this helps them stay warm and alive if the mom isn't next to them (which she won't be all the time). Make sure they all eat every 2 to 3 hours though (you sometimes have to arrange them on the nipples because they are blind/deaf for 2 weeks). They need to drink the mom's milk for about 4 weeks, then wean them off with solid food (mush it up, add some puppy milk replacement or just warm water so it gets soft). This should only be done about 4 weeks of age though. Call your local emergency vet if you have anymore questions because they are more than willing to help.

I dont like to do crash cources in whelping over the internet.
You really need to call your vet! I can't see your little dog to tell you if there is a emergency with your dogs whelping.

Get to a vet for pete sake!

Hmmm... Here's the thing.. The vet has an office where he keeps all his stuff.. He does this so that you have to go to him.. Then he charges you... If he was sitting here answering your questions for free, he would make no money and he wouldn't need his office anymore..

CALL YOUR VET!

I don't need to be a vet to figure a few things out here.
1- Why the HELL did you breed a mixed breed?
2- Why the HELL did you go this long without educating yourself on what to do during labor.
3- If your dog is having puppies and you don't know what you are doing, get to the VET!!
4- Have your dog spayed after this and be a responsible pet owner!
