Get canned puppy milk from any place that sells pet food. It's $1.29/can. Mix the chow with warmed puppy milk and let it get soggy before feeding her. She will lap it up so don't let her eat too much. Continue that until she is about 6 weeks old. Then gradually decrease the puppy milk and replace it with moist canned puppy food mixed with the dry chow. After a while, you can just feed the dry chow or continue mixing it with moist food.
Good luck with your puppy!

As others have said, puppy formula, to transition to food. Another thing to watch for carefully though - make sure the puppy isn't being pushed out of the "puppy pile" and getting cold. Until around 8 weeks they have a lot of trouble regulating body temp - so they can get hypothermic very easily, which will mean they can't digest the food you give them properly. If the mother rejects the pup physically, you may have to remove him and keep him warm with a heating pad or water bottle under toweling at 85 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent chilling and enable his metabolism to keep working properly. Also make sure she's cleaning him - he needs the stimulation of cleaning to pee and poop properly, so if she's not doing it, you'll need to stroke his nether region with a warm damp cloth after feedings until he eliminates. Odds are your "runt" is a pup that was from a different mating than the majority and is more or less a preemie. Get him vet checked - if he's otherwise healthy, there's no reason he can't grow up like the rest of his littermates. Also - if you can tell what breed the dam is - see about getting in touch with a breed rescue. While it's commendable you and your friend have taken her in - they have a lot more experience screening good homes for these puppies to go to when they're old enough to leave her.

Raw egg is not a good idea. She has a chance of getting salmonella poisoning and other various illnesses. Use warm water/cooked egg.
4 weeks old is very young to bring a puppy home. Purina puppy chow sounds fine but crush it up as best you can and let it soak in some warm water before you feed it to your dog.

Are you asking this question cause you don't have access to the pet store right now ? If you can, return the pup to it's mother for 4-6 more weeks- if you must feed her for the night and you can't get to the pet store for puppy formula( the kind you give her in a bottle), use a jar of beef baby food and dilute it - use one part baby food and two parts water- this is important cause puppy needs fluids- get a dropper and feed her a little at a time- this is only for emergency feeding-

For one puppies shouldn't leave their mothers until 6 or 7 weeks at least... she should still be drinking her mother's milk... but if you did I would definitely give her soft puppy food that comes in a can... they don't have enough teeth to chew up the hard food yet. Then after a few weeks start mixing in hard food but first soften it up with water so she can get used to it... then slowly stop wetting the hard food then start adding less and less soft food. Then eventually she will be eating hard food just fine!! :)

some dogs can have a problem with raw eggs I just moisten with water and slowly make it thicker until it is on just dry food.
I will say seems a lot of people on here does not like Purina but I have used it for over 20 years of breeding and my vet has always said my pups are extremely healthy so the idea of it being junk food is their opinion

The right feeding for a 4 wo pup is his mommy's milk, nothing else. There are substitutes but are kind of expensive. Feeding him another diet could interfere with his physical, psychological and immunological development which may cause irreversible harm.

Who told you to put a raw egg in her food??? You should never do that with a 4 week old pups food. Just crush the puppy food and mix warm water in it to make a oatmeal like mush and feedx the pup 4 times a day. Make she it a bit funny and soft. Then offer the pup clean clear water.
No raw egg at all. Your going to make the pup sick!
