Please go to a shelter-- the animals there deserve a second chance and will be euthanized if they aren't adopted. All animals from the shelter are vet checked, have all of their shots, microchipped, and are spayed or neutered. They also have to pass an aggression test to make sure that they're not a danger to their new owner.
I got my dog for $47 at the local shelter. He's amazing-- kid safe, totally trained, obediant, playful, friendly, and he's even good with my ferrets! He's a mutt, but healthy and young. He's the best dog I've ever had, and I'm glad I got to give him a second chance.
Make sure you can afford all of the expenses though-- not just buying the dog itself-- because animals and vet fees are expensive. Plus there's leash, collar, food bowls, bed, etc. etc. Make sure you can afford the dog and everything he or she comes with as well.

I think some of the people on here are being very rude..someone has an honest question and others are criticizing just because they have nothing else smarter or nicer to do. Yes, you can buy a dog for $52.00. Look online on different websites, like http://www.domesticsale.com/Classifieds/search/free-puppies-looking-homes/. This is the website I found and there are some offers even I am going to look into; the lab offer preferably. I hope you have Good Luck on finding your new best friend!!

What kind of dog?? I mean, if it is a purebred, probably not, unless you know the breeder. Go to your local Animal Shelter, I am sure they will let you. But remind yourself, it takes a lot more money to raise a dog, than $52. You have to buy food, dishes, de-wormer, flea treatment, get their shots, register and license them, depending on the dog, regular visits to groom and pamper, a lot of attention and work to pottytrain and train.

The cost of a dog is just not the purchase price or adoption fee. You will have to pay for food and veterinary care also, which can get very expensive.
So, to answer your question, no you cannot buy a dog for $52.

You can get a nice pet from the animal shelter or local dog pound. But, once you get a pet there is a lot of responsibility that goes along with owning a pet. Would you be able to take it to the vet for it's shots and have it spayed or neutered? If it gets sick could you take it to the vet? A pet becomes part of your family and it is dependent on you to take care of it. So before you get one, be sure you could provide the proper care it requires.

The cost of a pound dog varies, however it usually doesn't go over $75 cha-ching-ers...
However, the total of a small dog per month is about:
Dog itself: $50 (lets just say that)
Food for a month(includes bowls): $20
Toys: $15 (nothin' fancy, just chew-toys)
Collar: $5 -- Or under
Leash: $5 -- Or under or over, depends..
Bed/Crate: $30
Vet check-up: 25
Total: 150
This is just per mo. so, per year it's about 1,680 buckers.. Remember, this is one SMALL dog. Small dogs are hard to find at shelters!
And, all us pet-owners know it 'aint gonna stop at the typ. bet, toys and food -- you're gonna want treats, clothes if they're small dogs and ect....
Hope this helps! Be sure you can afford a dog, after all it's not something you just wanna jump into 'cuz you're stuck with it!

That's fairly close to the adoption fee at most shelters.
But will have you then have the money for these things?
Food,
Food & water bowl,
Treats,
Toys,
Bed,
Crate,
Grooming supplies,
Collar and Leash,
Identification tag,
Vet visits- shots, exams, and such
Flea and heartworm prevention...
That list isn't complete either. It takes hundreds of dollars to properly take in a new dog.

I adopted my dogs from the pound and paid $25 each. But remember that the money needed doesn't stop after buying the dog. Food, vet bills, toys, etc. adds up quick.
