I have been advised by my vet to get an ultrasound for my chihuahua's upcoming whelp, and I'm wondering how much it usually costs...

Its important that i know how many puppies to expect as well as if she will have any difficulty. I want her to get through this unharmed.

My 17 y.o toy poodle, not eating, losing weight. Abdomen swollen, I think it may be his liver. I am so afraid, I might lose him. Vet put him on lasix to reduce fluid, no longer working anymore. He is 17 y.o., and my heart. Please advise.

If my vet prescribed Prednisone for my miniature Schnauzer (he has really bad allergies), can I substitute it with Loratadine at the same dosage? Will this have an adverse effect? Thanks everyone.

I really want a puppy. I would prefer a small dog under 12 lbs. when full grown. I also want a puppy that is inexpensive itself. One last thing is I want a puppy that is relaxed but can be hyper very good at listening and very very x 1million cute!!

Thank,

I have worked very hard on making sure my rottweiler is not aggressive with anything especially food. We have done the exercises where I place my hand in his food bowl so he knows that we are allowed to approach him when he is eating. He has always been very accepting allowing me or anyone else to take anything he has. Now he is a year old and I notice when my hand goes near his food he crouches his head over the bowl and speeds up so that the food will be gone in seconds. He is not growling or anything when he does this, is it normal behavior or will it progress to more aggressive food guarding?

My dog has allergies to some meats. Not just chicken and beef, but bison, duck, venison and turkey as well. He does not like lamb, but will eat it when he is too hungry. Also, he does not do well with some starches such as potato and rice. He is a GSD and dobie mix. The vets he has seen tell us he should be about 70 lbs. according to his skeletal structure, but we are excited to see him at his current weight of 57 lbs. With lamb, his weight drops because he only eats 1 or 2 cups a day of it.
Right now he is on Pro Plan Sensitve formula, with Salmon. He will eat 5 to 8 cups a day on it, but still no gain. He doesn't take well to supplements, either. Right now he still has skin issues from allergies on that.
I tried cooking for him, and he loves it, but it ends up complicated, and I am horrable at cooking. I burn ramen.
He also has seperation anxiety and other disorders, which I think contribute to his weight, so I need the best thing for him.
Any ideas?

Ok My family has tried to adopt a dog several times. We are basically the perfect family for a dog but they said NO because the dog would be alone while we are at school... for christs sake i have a 5lb yorkie that can hold it when im at school with no problem. Trust me, I WANT people to adopt dogs!! I HATE puppy mills but maybe if the rescuers would get their noses out of the sky maybe more would be adopted! How many dog across the USA and the world are alone when the kids are at work?!??!!? For christs sake these shelters are their own worst enemies when they make it nearly impossible to adopt a dog....

I have a shiba inu and i was thinking to name it Yuki. It's a baby boy puppy though. Eventhough Yuki is a male japanese name, do you think many people will mistaken him for being a girl?

How is Kazuki as a name? However it has 3 syllables, hard for him to remember maybe?

Is YUKI a good name for a boy?

I have had several people tell me that the male dog is supposed to be same size or smaller than the female so that she can have the pups, And that it could kill her if the pups are 2 big. I have a 1/2 daschund & 1/2 chihuahua (chiweiner) she did weigh around 5-7 or 8 lbs. My moms dog is a full blood shih tzu that weighs probably 9 - 12 lbs. needless to say they woke me up the other morning and they were stuck, and she is without a doubt pregnant. Is she going to be able to have these pups without anything happening to her?

My doctor, just today, said my hideous head to toe rash is due to possible flea bites yet my pups and kits do not have any true signs of fleas, I even checked all the areas they collect (ears, feet, rump.)
Any advice, I have 5 dogs and 3 cats and want to avoid a costly vet visit just to find out I can treat fleas with OTC products or that they are flea free.
Thanks and blessings.
