I currently have a Yorkshire Terrier, a Shih-Tzu and a Pug, but I want to add a fourth dog into my family. What breed should this dog be?

A toy poodle should fit in, or a cross like cockapoo, pekipoo, etc. They aren't usually high strung like some small terriers and aren't aggressive or territorial. I would not get a fox terrier, jack russell, or parson russell terrier.

The perfect breed for you is called a rescue from the animal shelter. I like this breed because since they are all so different, you can always find what you are looking for, and save a life. It all works out, and everyone is happy.

I would go on www.petfinder.com and see which dogs they have available for adoption in your area. You could also find a breed rescue if you want a specific breed, or just go to your local animal shelter. When you adopt, you could get anything from the youngest puppy to the oldest senior dog, and there are lots of dogs in shelters that are friendly with other dogs. As long as you really look, you WILL find something that matches your needs.

So go out there and save a life, you will never regret it!

Sisyphus is wrong. Just as there are breeds known that do not get along with cats (like a Siberian Husky) there are several breeds that get along very well, like a Golden Retriever. If you need a small dog you should choose from a Bichon and a Maltese. Both breeds do well with cats. The link is to an article about dog breeds that get along with cats.

I have 3 and wouldn't mind another one. It's not much more work than having just one. We have 2 Golden Retrievers and 1 Chihuahua (a rescue). I didn't think this would work out but it has. You'll have to give it time and make sure the others get lots of attention but any good tempered dog should work.

how about adopting?
i would suggest a small breed so he doesnt accidentily hurt your other dogs.
check out www.petfinder.com
type in your zip code and select small or type in another breed. in each dog it will say if he/she gets along with other dogs, cats. children etc
please consider adopting .
