I have been advised by my vet to get an ultrasound for my chihuahua's upcoming whelp, and I'm wondering how much it usually costs...

Its important that i know how many puppies to expect as well as if she will have any difficulty. I want her to get through this unharmed.

$75
An x-ray is better. It is easier to count puppies that way. You can see the spines better with an x-ray too if you will just wait a bit longer to get it. Plus it is cheaper.
Have the ultrasound after delivery to make sure all the tissue has passed.

Call the vet's office and ask for an estimated cost. They should be able to give you an idea of what to expect. I don't have dogs, but I do have birds, and if I need something done, like wing clipping or talon trimming, they'll give me a ballpark number. It could be a little more or less, depending on how much blood the doc loses during the procedure. :)

You'll have to ask your vet. The price can vary depending on your area, and which clinic you go to.
