So I took my puppy to the park for the first time and I was excited. Hes about 12weeks old. Since He was left along the side of the road, we have had since he was bout 5days old and now I love him more than anything. Hes happy and healthy and getting big!
well hes only bout 3-5lbs but hes big to me. since he was found we are unsure what he is....the vet told us she "thinks" pit bull, and plenty of other people say pit bull...but we are not for sure.
so while I was at the park people asked "aww what kind of dog is he?" and so my answer was "we think pit bull" and then they got a disgusted face and told their kids to leave! I was soo upset! The same thing happened at petsmart...people just judge him! hes 3lbs what is he going to do besides lick you to death....I was hurt....
anybody else go through this?
heres a pic of Diesel....

I don't know much about the growing developments of pitbulls, but if he's only 3-5 pounds at 12 weeks old, I doubt he's a pitbull. My papillon weighed about 3 1/2 pounds at 12 weeks old, and paps are much smaller than pits.
If people have that reaction, just tell them "he's a mix-breed" or "we don't know for sure" and avoid the subject. He doesn't even look that pitty-ish to me. Maybe some other terrier mix, a smaller one like a jack or parson? (I'm not sure the mix.)

I have a 6 week old puppy that was given to me at 4 weeks old. The previous owner did not want her because of the stories people told her about Pit bulls. I took her in and she is just adorable. Her name is Lady and she is Pit bull Mix.

What a cutie! It's hard to tell since he's so young, but yeah, he could be a pit mix.
I have a dog who I really think has some pit breed in her, but I confess I just tell people she's a lab mix. People are inconsiderate idiots who believe what they see on the news...as a vet tech I'm much more cautious with the chihuahuas, schnauzers, and other little breeds. Not necessarily due to their breed, but because they tend to be spoiled and undisciplined. I have met many bully breeds and they are all loving, happy dogs.
I want to tell you congratulations for rescuing this baby. I too rescued a pup from the side of the road. It's tough to deal with prejudice. You can hold your chin high and say pit, or just tell 'em he's a 'Heinz-57'. Either way, keep socializing him and he will be an awesome dog. Kudos!

well they just think that all pits are killer machines and are up to nothing good , but I think that is so wrong if you raise a dog to be a loving pet and you give him nothing but love he will be just like a little baby forever . But now days whit all the things going on and only hearing pit bull attacked someone or did this or that but they never say that dogs came form a abusive home and new nothing but hate .
I think you did a good thing by taking this little baby in and giving him a good life .
good luck with your new addition DIESEL
and am I wrong Diesel is associate with Vin Diesel lol
but he is such a cut puppy .

people get disgusted and mad because they think owning a pit bull is unnacceptable. trust me i have a border collie pit bull mix and when i say what he is people walk away. so dont let them get to u. who cares what they think
EDIT: it is possible that he isnt a pit bull mix but people have to remember that he found this puppy when he was 5 days old. therefore the dog didnt have as much of the nutrients and things from their mother. he is small for his age. and if anyone makes a big deal out of him being a pit bull just tell them this "there is rape, murder, and war in this world and u r turning ur back on an innocent little puppy. i dont have an issue with him. ur the one with issues"

The only reason why people fear pit-bulls is because they've been known to do damage because most people breed them for fighting purposes... but whats sad, since they're a big dog, when they do attack, its is very damaging. Little dogs are sassy and more vicious I believe. But they do little damage, so no one really cares... when people look at Diesel so disgusting like... smile high, because he is too cute & they're just to stubborn to know the difference between a good dog and bad dog!! I also hate when people judge the breed of a dog and not the dog itself. I have a pup named Diesel... too. He's a Pom.

Omg!!!! What a sweetie/cutie pie he is! Its jsut natural for people to act like that, I mean you hear so many stories. My mom refuses to let me go near ANY stray dogs we see pitbull or not, but my dad took my dog to a dog park and shes very small a big dog possibly pitbull did attack her when we barely got through the gate he bite my dog on the neck and my dad tried to pick my dog up and he was knocked over then the lady was snotty and acted al proud about having a pitbull and she didn't do ANYTHING to stop her dog some other people had to run over and pull the dog away! I think its all about the owner, our physco neighbors had a very sweet german shepard and pitbull and suddenly like overn ight it turned mean (its a long story but seriously they have mental problems). We always help stray dogs but my mom lets my dad handle them. But remember no matter how sweet an animal is its still an animal and can turn anytime.

yes, i have a rottweiller and when people see me with her they go to great lengths to get out of my path. it is very upsetting, but some people will never except these animals and it is a fact of life we have to accept. and my dog is the same and will lick just about anybody to death. the day we moved into where we live the neighbors called the owners of the the place and complained. the owners made us sign a waiver stating that they will not be held responsible it she attacks anybody. funny thing is not only did the neighbors have a rottie mix they ended up falling in love with our dog. dogs like this will always have a bad rap thanks to people who use them for fighting purposes. it is horrible. but just love your dog and don't worry or care about what other people think.

He's adorable! You shouldn't worry about what people think...he's obviously a perfect little pup! A lot of people have negative reactions to pit bulls because of the stigma that comes with them. my old roommate had a pit and she was darling. they adopted her at three months after she had been at the humane society having cancer treatment done. she is a super sweet dog. my uncle also had two pits when i was a baby and my mom and dad would let me ride them around like ponies when i was just like two years old. they never once tried to hurt me. it's all on how the dog is raised. show this dog lots of love and affection and it will grow to be a loving and affectionate dog. if it bothers you that people say stuff tell them he's a mix. once he gets a little older a vet should be able to tell you what his mix is. He's adorable-I just want to cuddle him!
P.S. I love his name!!
