Does anyone know where I can find good information on breeding and showing dogs? I DO NOT mean just mating 2 random dogs and selling the puppies through the newspaper, this is something that I would like to do with my life. I'm well aware that good breeders really don't make alot doing it if they're caring for the dogs like they should, and that is fine with me, I want to do it out of love, not for any personal gain.
I don't want to hear "if you dont know anything about it then you shouldn't be doing it" because nobody is just born with the knowledge, even the most reputable breeders needed to learn it somewhere. If there are any breeders out there that can tip me off to books, or classes/seminars about it that would be ideal. I don't want to jump into it not knowing anything about the proper practice (thats not fair to the dogs) and I don't care how long it takes (or how much it costs) to get the knowledge that i need to do it right.

I have a 4 month old puppy who was an angel when we got her. She has been very ill with Virus and sick problems and her nipping and biting is becoming very bad. She is lovely with all strangers and Children. However with my Husband and me she is doing playtime as bite time. She is a nightmare to walk as she bites my legs through my trousers. I have tried stones in a bottle, spraying water- any other ideas ..... Thanks

I'm sick of the people on here talking about breeding their animals. Your animals need to be SPAYED AND NEUTERED. I volunteered in a vet clinic/rescue.. MY own dog died because he wasn't neutered. My other dog has a mamory tumor. This is searious stuff. My dogs are healthy, just because you think your animal is healthy doesn't mean that your animal won't get cancer or have a birthing dificalty. There are 1000's of animals dying because THEY DONT HAVE HOMES, don't add to this problem. My dog that has a mamory tumor, was bred and this is why this has happen to her. You can't let this happen to your animals. ITS NOT WORTH IT! Get off your lazy butts and take your animals to be spayed. Ferrets, cats, dogs.. They need you to do this for them, they can't take theirselves to have it done. If we care about them and love them, WE WILL DO THIS. Help put pet overpopulation to a STOP! This is SERIOUS!

have it's side nails cut permanently, as it just hangs
when the dog is grown, and when is the longest
time I can wait.

My female dog is about 9 years old, and recently she started bleeding like her usual "in heat" bleeding. But it doesn't stop, and its much more than ever, with clots and stuff. She won't eat and she's really weak. She'll hardly even leave the garage and certainly doesn't get all excited to see anyone...which says she's feeling terrible. What could be wrong with her? Is it something that should require a vet? Anyone experienced this? Please help, thank you!

i once heard that all dogs are lactose intolerant, is this true? i've been giving my pup a little bit of yougart everyday to help with tear stains (as suggested by my vet) but i'm wondering if that is causing her to have soft-stools (not diahharia).... ?

This is a question repost! I think it needs to be more put together.
Pookie is nine years old. He stretched this morning like he usually does, then abruptly sat down 'sloppy'. When my mom thought he wanted help off of the bed- since he sometimes seems unsure of getting off. He then started screaming bloody murder.
Now he won't move his backside and if you try to move him even to set him on a pillow he shrieks insanely.
He sat up slightly once when offered water, but laid down right after.
He now glares more supiciously then usually every time I enter the room (though mom can pet him and get him to go to sleep).
Should I try to put an ice pack on his hindquarters? A heating pad?
What's the maximum amount of time that he can go without drinking or pottying without being cruel? Will one day of rest at least show how serious or non-serious it is?
