I have a female labrador retreiver and if possible i don't want her to mate because I don't want her to have babies because her breasts will sag and won't look good. In short, I want her to be single for life. Is that alright or do they need to mate for their health at some point?

I have a friend whos dog got into some fish and she says that you dont have to take it to the vet because they have stuff you can buy to get rid of salmonella so she bought some kind of powdered antibiotics from a feed store to give to him. Does she have to take it to the vet or can she just give him the stuff she bought? please someone who is a vet or someone who knows alot about this from experience answer this question so i can tell her to do the right thing. Thank you

My cousin's pit just had ten pups. He took them about 2 days later and yesterday she started bleeding black stuff from her vagina and looks like she is dying...literally. Aside from the atrocity of taking the babies so young, can anyone guess whats wrong with her? Is it another pup stuck inside? He's afraid to take her to the vet so the poor thing is laying there in agony.

OK I have another question.......I had my puppy on Nutro and she really didn't like it to much. She ate it but I noticed that she lost weight. So we put her on Purina One and she really eats that up (not sure on if she has gained weight yet) but I am noticing that she is pooping alot more. I don't know if she is pooping more because of the food? Also how much should you feed a puppy that is 32 lbs? I just need some advice on keeping her on Purina One or should I look for something that is a little more healthy? How much pooping is normal?

Thanks

I have a 6 month old Boxer who is currently crate trained. I want to get a doggy door and start having him use that while we are not home for short periods of time. As far as potty training goes, he has an accident every now & again, but if i leave the door open, he will go out on his own.

How do i know if its the right time to start with the doggy door? What do i need to consider before doing this?

I have a large rottweiler/mastiff dog. I notice that after he goes on a run, his back legs seem to hurt him a little. Is there anything I can do to help him? or is there any type of vitamin that would help him out?

My dog had an allergic reaction last May after her shots and I had to take her to the emergency vet clinic after hours. Our vet's office told me this year I would have to drop her off all day and they would give the shots individually and check for reactions. However, I am reading more and more that some vets say these yearly shots are not necessary for older dogs (mine is a 12-yr-old Boston Terrier), and are actually harming them. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?
