Thank-you for all your answers and on reading your advice I have decided not to buy shock collars for the three dogs as they are too cruel, and small terriers (paps) are a nervous breed of dog to begin with. Where to I buy a remote control barker/training collar from and how much do they cost?

My 8 year old Yorkie recently started to eat poop. This is shocking since she is such a picky eater. It doesn't matter how much or little she eats-she keeps doing it? Any suggestions? Obviously, this bothers me, but should be concerned that something else might be wrong?

They don't get that large, actually they are smaller than labs and retrievers. If you see a dog that is about two-and-a-half feet tall to the back, it ain't a pit bull.

I saw some people arguing over a dog in the back of a pick-up truck, saying how it should not be allowed out in the public without a mussel and chained down. I do agree, but they went on to say that all pit bulls like that should be euthanized.

Okay, the dog wasn't being mean, number one.
Number two it appeared to be a mix of saint bernard and bull mastiff, but that was just at a glance.

Why do people assume that large dogs are automatically pit bulls?

Hi everyone. I am wanting to acquire two toy chihuahua's. Preferrably young puppies (so that i can train them to get along with my kitten, and socialize them) I am wondering what the best place would be to get them. I would not prefer to get them from a puppy mill, or a breeder that breeds them JUST for profit when there are so many other puppys that need good homes. But if thats the only place i can find them, then so be it :) Thanks for all your help.

I have a wonderful ridgy pup, 11 months old, named Jula. I allow him to climb onto and sleep on one particular couch in the living room. I often snuggle with him, lying on top of him and he loves it - no growling or protectiveness over 'HIS' teritory.
A couple of people have said that allowing onto a couch is bad, in that it might make him nasty and domineering. Are they talking absolute rubbish? Any particular steps I should follow to ensure that everything stays amicable with this arrangement?
Thanks

The reason pit bulls are named mean is because they are one of the easiest breeds to train and because the owners of them teach them to be mean. THye tye them up in a closet by their hind legs and whip them w/ a fishing pole. If the pit doesn't try to bight back they will kill it.

GOLDEN RETREIVERS HAVE BITTEN MORE PEOPLE THAN PIT'S BUT BECAUSE LABS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A "FAMILY DOG" THEY DON'T GET IN TROUBLE!

My friends dogs only go to the vet twice a year. When dogs are puppies I know that dogs are suppose to go a lot but my dog is no longer a puppy. They tell me I miss heart worm months but I am almost positive that I don't. Its costing me a lot of money that I don't have. It seems like everyone in town goes to them and they have also been there the longest.

He was on Royal Caine Large breed puppy before the vet switched him. My quetion is to eperienced people please should we be seeing a difference by now if it was a food allergie???

I have a three month old puppy... she's got 3 vaccionations so far, all including parvo shots. My vet says not to expose her to other dogs untill she's had all her shots, but she's so full of energy and psycho, and I really want to take her to our local dog park... so, how common is the parvo virus?? Do you think she would be fine to go to the dog park a few times a week?

If you're TRULY a pit lover, you'll respect the dog's natural breed tendencies, rather than pretending they don't exist. Denying the breed's high prey drive & gameness is irresponsible - do we really need more irresponsible dog owners?

Do some research - Pits are generally NOT good with other pets once they mature and their prey drive kicks in. They require lots of exercise and interaction with their owners to be happy, healthy dogs, and they require CAREFUL supervision around other animals.

If you have a pit & other pets without problems, you're either very responsible and train and supervise carefully, or you've been very lucky. Please don't assume all others will be so responsible or so fortunate.

Advocate for the breed if you wish, but please do it responsibly! Don't deny or minimize the breed's prey drive to promote them to people who have other pets, or you may be condemning a dog to death or a shelter after it kills the unsuspecting owner's other pets.

Peace.

My puppy has just had the second pert of his adult innoculation yesterday and today he has wet himself in his bed, in a carry cage and while he is just walking about. Its about every 30 mins before. He is normally well trained and normally only goes on his puppy pads or in the garden. I'm getting a bit worried as it seems he has lost all control of his bladder. Please help!!

We have a two month old daschund puppy. We have had him for around 3 weeks. We were letting him sleep on the bed, but that was too much trouble and now we're trying to crate train him at night and while we're gone in order to housebreak him. The only problem is he barks like crazy when he's in the crate. We put him in there at 10:30 last night and he barked at least until 2 am. At least, that's when I finally fell asleep. Any ideas on how to keep him from barking so much when he goes in the crate?

i have a 2 year old miniature pinscher named Foxy, i love her dearly and she is my baby, lol. but thats besides the point.... the thing is after everytime i feed her she belches very loudly. i have seen a dog burp before but never like this dog, its so loud, and its every single time i feed her breakfast and dinner. without fail after she eats she walks into the living room walks around in a couple circles, opens her mouth really wide and lets the biggest burp rip. then she just gets on the couch and curls up and goes to sleep until its time for her walk. so is this normal? or is something wrong with my dog? i have 2 other dogs who eat the same food (merrick, a all natural dog food) and i never ever hear them belch! so what do you think is up?
