Hi everyone. I am wanting to acquire two toy chihuahua's. Preferrably young puppies (so that i can train them to get along with my kitten, and socialize them) I am wondering what the best place would be to get them. I would not prefer to get them from a puppy mill, or a breeder that breeds them JUST for profit when there are so many other puppys that need good homes. But if thats the only place i can find them, then so be it :) Thanks for all your help.

Thank you for your responses, i do know about petfinder.com. And i wouldnt be the only one caring for the two of them. They will be together, with myself, and my sister. We do want to get them as babies for a couple reasons, its easier to socialize chi's with other animals, and people, when they are puppys. I really dont wish to go to a puppy mill/breeder, as ive said before, because i know of many dogs and puppies that need homes rather then new pups born just to be sold. I would never (and have never) bought animals from a pet shop. All animals that i have lived with have been rescued. i was just looking for extra links with good referrances. Also, i know that 'toy' isnt a true breed, but its widely known, and thats the only way that i thought of to ask.

Millions of Chi's on there! Just put in your state/zipcode and you'll find the dog of your dreams! :]

You can also look for a shelter near you on the left hand side a bit ways down.

Hope that helps!

Look on the internet. Look on the AKC website. Find a breeder with a good reputation. A good breeder usually only has a couple males and female dogs. They usually only have a litter a year per dog. What ever you do, don't get one from a pet shop. Also, keep in mind the dog might become overly attached to each other since you're getting them together at a young age.

We got three of our Chihuahua in three different states at three different times. We then mixed two of them and kept some of the puppies. We looked for and add in the local papers and got pretty god little Chihuahuas. They are not going to be able to tell you how small they'll be. Even if the parents are small. And those charts on line are not accurate either. They should be about 3 to 6 lbs grown.
Very smart little dogs, very loving, but watch out for the Napoleon Syndrome, this breed is afflicted with this heavy.

Remember that there is NO SUCH THING AS A "TOY", "TEACUP", "MINI", "EXTRA SMALL" etc. CHIHUAHUA or ANY OTHER BREED (exceptions with Toy Poodle, Miniature Poodle & Miniature Schnauzer).

http://www.petfinder.com is a great website to look for all different breeds of animals available for adoption in shelters and foster homes. With the amount of scams going on with small Chihuahua's, it's much safer to adopt. Also, with the amount of Chihuahua breeders in America, there are bound to be hundreds of Chihuahua's of ALL ages up for adoption.

Do *not* get two pups that are not yet trained. You should only get dogs if they are at MINIMUM 12 months apart. Dogs need a lot of attention, love and affection. You can't possibly give them what they need if you've got two of them to train. Also, you need to remember that Chihuahua's are very stubbon and take months, if not years to housebreak. I certainly wouldn't suggest getting another until the first is trained and housebroken.

You write as if you think puppy mills and breeders are the same. You safeist place to get a quality puppy is from a repuable breed that will have carefully selected the dam and sire, and been sure they have had the best of care.

www.petfinder.org or http://www.puppyfind.com/breed/?breed_id=38&sid=1556c5a7daf31d2f1a6c091bb7945a91&back=%2Fbrowse%2F%3Fstr%3Dc%26page%3D1

Click View All Puppies and then be sure to change your location in the upper right hand corner. I bought my Chi here, she's only 3 pounds and is 18 months old now.
