i have a 2 year old miniature pinscher named Foxy, i love her dearly and she is my baby, lol. but thats besides the point.... the thing is after everytime i feed her she belches very loudly. i have seen a dog burp before but never like this dog, its so loud, and its every single time i feed her breakfast and dinner. without fail after she eats she walks into the living room walks around in a couple circles, opens her mouth really wide and lets the biggest burp rip. then she just gets on the couch and curls up and goes to sleep until its time for her walk. so is this normal? or is something wrong with my dog? i have 2 other dogs who eat the same food (merrick, a all natural dog food) and i never ever hear them belch! so what do you think is up?

Hello & hope it's just something funny..like if she gulps her food..which if she does it can cause her to belch from swallowing fast & taking in air..so if that's a YES answer, then she is probably fine, if it's a NO answer & she is having the Poops or any pain, then she needs a Vet Check..animals can get what's called, bloating, in their stomachs & that can be dangerous requiring a VET..Take Care :)

LOL!! My lab mix does that too - usually when he comes to 'thank' the human who fed him. Along with a big wet kiss, he produces an enormous dog food - scented belch!
On a more serious note, she's probably eating too fast. Eating too fast can be unhealthy for a couple of reasons: 1) the dog is swallowing too much air, and 2) it puts the god at a risk for bloat, which is a very serious condition in which the stomach fills up with air and twists on itself. If this happens you have to seek emergency vet care ASAP. I'm not trying to scare you - I didn't know this either until I asked my vet about my dog's awesome talent for burping.
My suggestion is that you train her to eat more slowly. You can do this by measuring out her serving of food and giving it to her in many small portions. My partner and I helped our boy increase meal time from about 20 seconds to a couple of minutes! We have to go back to hand-feeding if he's waffing down his dinner too quickly, but he's getting better.
This should probably work for your little girl.
Good Luck!!

Misty is right on the ball with this one. Most likely your dog gulps air when he eats. If you mix water with the food it may help. Could also be from scarfing the food down realy fast. I wouldnt worry too much at all about the burping. T
Try an experement if you want. Right now swallow a good gulp of air.. you will burp it out in a couple minutes...

Dog balls...the pup's self esteem? Ha! The damn things are plastic and the animal gets no benefit from having them in his scrotum. The vet sold you a bill of goods so he could profit from your ignorance. And if it was your idea to have them implanted he should have tried to dissuade you. Dogs (especially pups) have no inkling of what happened in the vet's office except he fell asleep and has some discomfort down by his penis. But he does feel less aggressive and now the mutt across the street doesn't seem to be so much of a threat to him. Go to him and have the dog treated for the inflammation and swelling, if you still trust him. Good luck J

Different dogs will respond to the same dog food differently.
There are a variety of reasons that she may need to burp after she eats. It could be as simple as she is eating to fast and therefore consuming to much air with her food.
You should address this with your vet at your next visit.

Is she a gulper? If so, she's swallowing air with her food. Belching simply relieves the excess air in her belly.
Try pouring water (just enough to cover) on her food. It's like bobbing for apples, so it makes them eat more slowly.

If she is a fast eater, she is also ingesting air, thus making her gassy, try putting an object which she would need to navigate around in her bowl: ie, tennis ball, pair of pliers, GI Joe, whatever fits.
