My 8 year old Yorkie recently started to eat poop. This is shocking since she is such a picky eater. It doesn't matter how much or little she eats-she keeps doing it? Any suggestions? Obviously, this bothers me, but should be concerned that something else might be wrong?

You might want to take her to the vet for a look-see. Otherwise it's pretty normal. All you can do is clean it up ASAP. Mine do it all the time. They are on premium food and in great health. Don't put anything in your dog's food or on the poop. It doesn't work

i had the same problem w/my dogs being cat box raiders. i asked my vet and she said put Adolf's Meat Tenderizer in the cat's food. the dogs will eat it w/o harming themselves while it's on their food, but it makes the poop taste bad when they try to eat it. the way my vet put it was "poop is like ice cream or candy to dogs". that's y they eat it. unless one of ur dogs has worms or some other infections, it's harmless, but disgusting. good luck!!

You can get a food additive from your vet or a veterinary supply store to sprinkle on the dog's food to stop them from eating their own feces. If she is eating other dog's feces, I don't know how much that would help.

BTW, it would not hurt to have you vet give your little girl a complet check-up.

Love those pocket pooches!

what kind of food are you feeding them?? if it is a junky food, perhaps it isnt being thoroughly digested and that is why your dog is eating poop... try a premium food.. dry kibble only and see what happens
