I would like to know if there are any laws (in the u.s.) that would offer loop hole so I could keep my dog in an apartment that does not allow dogs. If someone helps me out I will give you the best answer points. Thanks!

I checked him out and he only has bruises on his leg and knee. I thought that he was seriously injured. He is moping around (that may be b/c I scolded him about peeing in the house) but jumping on and off the bed and couch like normal. Do you think he's alright?

Why is it that pit bulls have a constant prejudice against them? Why them and not dalmations, akitas,so on & so forth? It breaks my heart. Tonight I brought my dog (pitbull mix) to my boyfriend and dad's softball game. Everyone loved her but I had a little girl come up to me and asked what kind of dog she was. I said she has pit bull in her. The girl gasped and her eyes got big, she said, 'She's not going to attack me is she!!?' I said, 'No, it all depends on how the dogs are raised.' It makes me so sad that by just the way the my dog looks, people automatically don't want her to come near them, which she doesn't understand. I've been hearing that certain cities/states that they are completely banning pit bulls. Also, why is it that pit bulls have less time in a shelter than ANY OTHER dog? In Tennessee it is a law that you put the pit bull down within 24 hours of not being claimed. What are your thoughts on all of this? How do you feel about them being stereo-typed?

Okay, I have seen a lot of posts about shock collars and I just want to add my two cents. I have been a dog trainer for many years and I am neither very for nor against them. I think they serve a purpose in some cases and are not necessary in other cases. My problem here is I wish that people knew the facts before they freak out about them.
First of all, dogs have extremely strong necks with very few nerve endings in them. Example: could you put on a choke collar and still pull a 150 pound human? What may feel awful to a person feels like a slight irritation to a dog. Now the trick is to start on the lowest setting, and move up from there.
Also, they should be used for a SHORT amount of time as to not cause damage to the dog. Now to end my tirade, the use of a shock collar with a responsible, knowledgeable person can be a great training tool with a stubborn dog where all other training methods have failed. I would rather get shocked by a collar than hit by a car, wouldn't you?

Anyone have any personal experience? Is your dog kind and sweet? Does he get along with other animals? I really want to get a Pitbull, but my parents aren't into it because it's natural instinct is to fight other animals. Or so they think. Does your Pit get along with other animals fine? Not just dogs, but rabbits, and small animals such as rodents? If I can get people that actually know what they're talking about, not the people that think that Pit Bulls are dangerous to humans, because there are other dogs that cause more injuries and deaths than pitbulls. But if anyone can tell me of good things they know about pitbulls, not so much them being good with humans, but animals. And what kind of training did they get? Was it professional? Or was their owner just good with animals, and traning them? Any personal experience would be nice.

Is there anything wrong with my homemade dog food recipe?
2 cups beef gravy
2 cups finely diced buckboard ham
1 small finely diced potato
2 small diced carrots
2 1/2 cups cooked white rice
Is there anything wrong with this? Is anything in it bad for my dogs? If it matters, my dogs are border collie/australian shepherd/newfoundland, lhasa apso/terrier, and wolf/husky/chow, and they are 50, 25 and 85 pounds respectively and 2,5, and 2 years old, respectively. Thanks!!

Do you think dogs like to walk on the same trail over and over so they can keep up with the neighborhood news? Or do they prefer going to new places and exploring?

2 times last year these ghetto *** people where i live let their dogs get out, both times the city took the dogs and last time i actually went to court and they got a serious fine and all but...

they say "oh they can be trained" and "only bad owners have bad dogs " and bla bla bla but the honest truth is that when a person or another animal screams and runs away the dogs are really not trained for that situation no matter what these idiots say.

besides i have yet to see 1 pitbull with a "good" owner.

so... what i need is something that i can unleash on the dog next time i see one of them running up and down my street.

maybe even just let it jump in the yard of the dog that got out 3 days ago.

i could always get rid of the dogs other ways, but calling the animal control is getting kinda lame, and i dont want to get myself in trouble like i would if the dog ever hurt someone in my family...

lions tigers and bears... lol maybe a monkey i dunno what about german sheperds

Though it was me who bought this 3 mnth old pup ( cross of dauchand and stray one) but now he is almost four years old and never lets me tough him. Only few ppl can caress him, like my mum or an aunt. Whenever i go to home, he really gets happy to see me and jumps on me but the moment i touch him he starts growling. He even doesnt let my grandpa ( who lives with us) to touch him. Now that I am married i stay with my hubby since last two years but the matter has only gotten worse. He doesnt take food from anyone but my mum. And also starts to get excited by seeing strangers and at times end up scaring many new comers. He is otherwise very intelligent and understands everything my mum says..and behaves like an angel infront of her..Why this partiality?? Anyone facing same prob? I have tried to play with him..offer treats..but no use..he wont let me/anyone else touch him..

The site was something to laugh about :) however I dont want her doing that.
What is the proper way to handle this? I didnt want to crate her, because I dont want her to associate crating as punishment and I didnt want to put her outside because I didnt want her to associate being put outside as punishment either.

My dog is 3.5 years old and tonight he has a full blown seizure! He lost all bladder and bowel control, he drooled and his eyes bulged out of his head plus went into convulsions!
I can understand seizures because I have them, but it was because of a head injury.
My dog had NEVER had a seizure before and I can't think of what it can be from!
-ice cream w/chocolate in it?
-new dog food ( ol roy )
-new dog treat(canine carry outs)

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!!!!

Hello to all. I have a vet appt. set up for Monday for this situation, but I'm just looking for any advice/suggestions here :)

I have a 15 1/2 year old male Aussie who has been acting very strange lately. When my fiance and I get on the floor to play with him (he loves playing with tennis balls and his rubber chicken!) he all of a sudden doesn't want to play. He starts panting, jumping on us and clawing us. His tail wags every once in a while, but it worries me because his ears go back and he looks like he's panicking or something. He has been like this for two weeks and I'm not sure what this could be. Any advice or has anyone had a dog that did this?

Thanks so much in advance for any help/suggestions.

Ive been told that you shouldnt walk a dog over a bridge because the way a dog walks can make the bridge collapse, since a dog marchs when he walks the weight makes the bridge sway and can cause it to collapse? I cant find anything on the internet about this, but my husbands grandfather had told him this several years ago, tonight i was walking my rottweilers and my grandma called and asked where i was walking them and i told her not over the bridge and she asked why and i said because ive been told it can collapse because of the way they walk, my dad called me when i got home and thought i was losing my mind because i told my grandma that, someone help!! lol
