2 times last year these ghetto *** people where i live let their dogs get out, both times the city took the dogs and last time i actually went to court and they got a serious fine and all but...
they say "oh they can be trained" and "only bad owners have bad dogs " and bla bla bla but the honest truth is that when a person or another animal screams and runs away the dogs are really not trained for that situation no matter what these idiots say.
besides i have yet to see 1 pitbull with a "good" owner.
so... what i need is something that i can unleash on the dog next time i see one of them running up and down my street.
maybe even just let it jump in the yard of the dog that got out 3 days ago.
i could always get rid of the dogs other ways, but calling the animal control is getting kinda lame, and i dont want to get myself in trouble like i would if the dog ever hurt someone in my family...
lions tigers and bears... lol maybe a monkey i dunno what about german sheperds

i should add, they are illegal here and when animal control comes they do kill the dogs.
as for the dog lovers, i dont care if your dog thinks he's protecting you or his yard or whatever, once it leaves your yard it poses a serious danger to everyone else besides, if i wanted you or your kids hurt, the dog isnt gonna be able to stop me anyway. its only gonna hurt some innocent kid someday
the fact that its the dog's instinct doesnt make it ok, it makes the owner an idiot.

also how many of these dog owners understand that utility workers have the right to be in your yard without consent?
if your power goes out, but your neighbor has a pitbull are you just screwed? what if they hate the local cable company but the box is in their yard and you need your phone service repaired immediately because you have sick/elderly people in your house that may need 911
they talk like they need someone to defend their yard or some similar nonsense...

There is nothing legal that could kill a pit bull, the best you would get would be a messy fight with another big dog. Also you would of just doubled the dangerous animal situation, so please keep going through the proper channels.

The person below who suggested firing the gun into the air is an idiot. Apparently he/she does not realize that it is not only illegal, but dangerous. The bullet has to come down, providing it doesn't hit something up there in the air....and yes, that has happened, and it may very well strike and kill someone on the ground. So none of you will be doing that, right?
I understand your frustration, having lived across the street from an idiot owner of an aggressive pit bull. I can, and do, legally own a gun. No, I have not shot either him or the dog, but after being attacked serveral times by the dog, and making long and numerous written reports to animal control, and having the police to his house on each occassion, he was given a number of fines, and FINALLY ARRESTED. That made an impression. The thing that REALLY made an impression was when animal control gave him the information that I had permission to shoot the dog in self defense, and the sheriff's department backed them up.
I suspect you may live in an area where you aren' t going to be able to do this. Make a report each and every time. Get a digital camera and set time/date on it, and get photos of each occurance. Also, see if you can find a sporting goods store that sells BEAR REPELLENT. But be careful of which way the wind is blowing if you use it.
Don't send an animal out against it. Pit bulls and their owners who let them loose have no sense or conscience. Why injure an innocent animals and get down on their level. Yeah, I know .....all those pitbull owners will jump up and say how responsible they are...how gentle the dogs are....and it's
"always the other guy". Sorry, I have seen too many people injured and too many animals killed by these supposedly gentle animals owned by "responsible" people.
Anyone who owns dogs and leaves them off-leash are irresponsible. Anyone who owns pitbulls and brags about leaving them off-leash are are worse than irresponsible. They are complete idiots looking for trouble, but will be the first to yell foul when something happens.

wow, i don't know if you're gonna get a lot of possitive feed back for this question.
honestly, i grew up with pit bulls and they were great dogs. here's what i'm sayin -my dogs were so well trained that screamin kids and such didn't change the fact that they were obedient. my pit bull actually broke pursuit of a cat the second my dad called her. the point is a good owner= a good dog. regardless of breed.
incidentally, the fact is that when a huge temperment study was done on all the breeds, the pit bull actually scored higher than most dogs
that being said, your neighbors are OBVIOUSLY not good owners because you have a problem that shouldn't exist. they are irresponsible. THEY are exactly the reason the pit bull has a bad name. it's because of the loosers that are attracted to the breed for all the wrong reasons. and that pisses me off.
SO i Do see your delema.
as for a shepard, a pit would kick it's ***. as for releasing another animal on the pit, that would be cruel, immoral, ILLEGAL, and probably result in you having a huge lawsuit that you would lose and a dead animal .
unless you know what to send out, which i can't, in good conscience tell you. however, if your family is in danger- people come first. so i will tell you that there is a dog bread for lion hunting. three of these dogs together, are said to be the only breed able to pin a lion. understand, i'm not answering your question. i'm just telling you that if you research lion hunting dogs, you'll find a dog that you can hunt lions with. the problem becomes this: if you release one animal as a solution to another, what then is the solution to the animal you release. "i don't know why she swallowed a fly".
please just call animal control. when you're protecting your family, nothing is ever lame. to protect my family (from a dog and from having a father in jail and owing a lot of money from a lawsuit) i would call animal control every day and it could never get lame enough.

I own a pitbull (rescued). Oh yes, I am a college graduate, hold a professional position and go to church regularly. I guess that makes me "bad." Pity. I wouldn't trade my Sweet Baby Blue for anything. He's a fabulous dog.
But nonetheless, I will agree. There are people out there who think owning pitts - or Rotweilers or other "badboy" breeds make them look tough. They're also the kind of people who buy expensive tennis shoes thinking they'll be as good on a basketball court as Michael Jordan.
It sounds like there's more than just the dogs here - like you live in a ghetto and people with "ghetto attitudes."
I would get the city/police involved - not just by arresting people - but showing a good presence. Talk with your school or councilmen about organizing a neighborhood watch - and maybe holding a block party on general public safety - with special demonstrations on how to handle emergency situations - prowlers, predators, mean dogs. That way you can be a hero - instead of a nosy old neighbor. Get the community involved so that people won't think they even need a "guard dog" with all the liability that goes with it.

Sorry you've had such a bad time with pit bulls. I have been around a lot of them that are sweet & loving. But, any dog can be a killer. It's just pitts are big enough to carry it out as are rotts, dobermans, german sheppards, labs, great danes etc. Even a little chiuhaha can cause some serious damage give the chance.
Please use the legal way. Get a petition together signed by the neighborhood then contact the law or animal control. Or you can even sue the owners of the dogs that are causing the problems if you've been damaged in some way.

I think they are great dogs, but have been judged by the media and society not by their deed but by the breed. Every dog could be vicious if not properly raised and socialized. A study I read was on pit bulls once. The vicious pit bulls were owned by violent felons. Raised in an evil situations dogs and humans alike will become damaged goods. I saw a video this past summer about a woman and her 3 year old daughter. They were home alone with their pit bull one evening. A convicted rapist broke into their home. The dog grabbed the man's arm. The man ended up stabbing this brave dog 6 times and still the dog held on to the man's arm. He finally let go when the police arrived at the scene. The dog was rushed to the vet, but died a few days later from his injuries. The 3 year old is now 27 and keeps only pits for pets and to be her family member.

Where I live it isn't even legal for a pit to kill another pit. It sucks that you are such issues with these people. Sometimes Idiots end up with dogs. Just to say I have owned a pit in the past and it was full blooded and a wonderful member of our family and very protective of my children. Anyway, is it possible to get someone to take the dogs from them? I mean will they bite strangers? That is what my son does when he sees someone beating a dog, which is why I have had so many pets. I can't really think of any legal way to do it. Kumodo Dragon??? LOL!!

Be smart and just keep calling animal control. At the very least, they'll get sick of seeing your face and they'll take the dogs for good just to shut you up. Take turns with your other neighbors so that you're not the only one. I've found that if the community speaks out about these things, it forces the authorities to do something about it. If they don't and those dogs hurt someone, the city could be held responsible.

You know nothing about Pit Bulls. I have 2 of them they were born and raised around other children and animals. They are wonderful dogs!!! They would never hurt anything or anybody unless it hurt me. You can't judge all Pit Bulls just because some fall into bad hands. There is no bad Pit Bull out there. There are bad owners. People who take a Pit Bull into their homes and abuse it. They do everything possible to make the dog mean. Have you ever seen what they do??? Here is a site that make you realize. But someone like you that want to eliminate these wonderful dogs would probably laugh. Just pure ignorance.

people like you piss me off because an animals natural instinct when something is running from it is to chase it-
i have three pits and one American bulldog, i can leave them off the leash and they know the boundaries of their yard , I'm not sticking up for the owners of these dogs in particular
where are the dogs running from? that person who owns the pits yard? if that's the case how can you be mad at the owners of the pits when they are just defending their territory and the other dog got killed>? the other people should have their dogs in a yard too not roaming through other peoples yards.
wait though you haven't said that these dogs have harmed anyone or anything - hmmmmm
then its OK for you to get a dog to fight with another animal but they cant because why?
and there are a lot of dogs that can kill a pit bull but i can see your already in a stereotypical world - so ill leave u with the question -

Please don't try killing them!!! It is the owners fault and yes there can be proper owners for pit bulls...my ag teacher brings her rescued blue pit to school all the time. Why don't you try some of these things first.
Fire a gun (into the air!!!!) to scare the dog back home
Talk to the owners
Call the cops on the dogs
Capture them and take them to a pound.
Any of these would be better than killing the mistrained dogs. Also, no legal pets are really a match for the powerful pits. Sorry, but please don't take ur aggression out on them!
