I will tell you what I told my boyfriend and son about dogs and their mouths.Dogs do not have thumbs. When you play with your dog, you grab him and such. Well he is grabbing you too. As long as he's not being aggressive let him play naturally. If he is getting to nippy or bossy, gently spank his butt and tell him NO in a firm voice. He will know the difference between play and painful mouthing.

What I used to do with my boxer pup was push her away when she'd start biting my hand. I'd place my hand on her chest or on the shoulder and just gently push her away until she got the idea. It took her about a week and a half to get the picture. All your pup wants to do is just play and doesn't mean to hurt. Just push the pup away and tell him in a stern voice "NO." He'll learn soon enough that when he plays rough like that, you're not likely to give him the attention he wants. I also used the same technique to get her to stop jumping on me when I come home. That took about a month because a boxer's nature is to "box" so it was really hard for her. Just remember that when your pup does a behavior you like, reward him so he knows that's what YOU like. Also, use chew ropes to play tug of war. Gives him something else to chew on other than your hand. Below is a website that might help. It talks a little bit about what I was just saying. Hope this helps! :)

You need to employ the same method that pups in a litter might use to deter a dominate one from biting too hard. That is they will yelp, pull away from the biting dog and refuse to play. So what you do is cry out like the dog just bit your hand off and turn away from the dog and keep doing so. Appear to attend to a wound. Refuse attention from the dog. Keep turning away. Why this works is because the last thing the dog wants is to lose a play partner. It will learn how hard to bite that is acceptable so that you will not refuse its attention. This is very basic dog behavior. Dogs learn fast when the proper techniques are used.

Hello, you can't ..that's how dogs play..what you need to do is ONLY play with him using DOG TOYS ropes, tug a ropes... not your hands, feet, old clothes or shoes - dogs will never know the good clothes from the play clothes if you do..then you'll be wondering why he's eating your good clothes & shoes ..LOL ..Take Care :)

When ever he bites, gently but so he knows it was wrong, hold on to his lower jaw under his tounge. He will try to wriggle free, but don't let go untli he stops fighting it. It doesn't hurt them, just annoys them like a fly buzzing in your ear.

Light pressure on the roof of his mouth when he bites. It broke my doberman of it. Just enough to make the outcome of his biting uncomfortable.

When he bits you then say no, easy, then lightley tap him on the nose. If he bits again then repet it but a little harder on the tap.
