My roommate's dog will pee anywhere in the house if she absolutely must. Can she be trained to go in a litter box? She's a chihuahua.

I have had alot of chihuahuas in my lifetime and i have 2 right now and the litter hurts their feet dont use a litterbox try puppy pads instead I reccomend natures miracle puppy pads because they have the scent built into them to make the dogs want to go on the pad . good luck and I hope that i helped.

yes, but you will have to work at it, not to mention you have to do it when the dog is young. They sell pee-pee- pads at walmart, it has a built in smell that makes dogs want to pee on it. But dont worry, we can't smell it only the dogs are attracted to it. A bag goes for 14$ canadian. It works, but if you rather use a liter box, i suggest you start my placing this pee-ppe pad in the box to get the dog started. then you can just eliminate it. Good luck I know a few chihuahua that have done this already.

Heard of it...Never seen it. Try getting an open air litter box and putting the chi in it when you see signs that it has to go. When it goes in the box, give it lots of praise and start out with a treat every time. Start cutting the treats back as time goes on, but always praise if you witness it. Good Luck!

Yes...when we got our 2 yorkies at 12 weeks old, they were litter box trained. Our breeder put wood pellets in a litter box & they used that for afew months until the weather got warmer & we could train them to go outside.
Our male when he started lifting his leg, peed on the floor, but the female would probably still use it if we didn't take it away

TRAIN THE DOG to go outside. OUTDOORS is where dogs should pee and poop.

And don't blame the fact that she's a Chi and is too small to go out... because I have a Chi that goes outside ALL THE TIME.

if someone can train a puppy to go outside then yes you could most likely train it to go in a little box.
