Dogs tolerate Benedryl very well. That said, first consult with your vet and let your vet direct how much to give.

One thing you might consider (if you haven't already) is new food. A lot of commercially processed foods are full of things that trigger allergies in dogs, Corn being a huge one, but wheat, soy, eggs, etc can also be huge allergens to dogs.

Yes you can. Benadryl is fine for dogs and every dog owner should have some around (liquid) for emergencies, such as bee stings. The usual recommendation for dosage is 10mg (1/2 tsp) for a dog under 20 pounds, 25mg (2 tsp) for dogs 20 to 60 pounds, of course a 20 pound dog should get the 1 tsp and a 60 pound dog the 2 tsp. Dogs over 60 pounds can get up to 4 tsps (50mg). I would recommend the 4 tsp for your 90 pound dog. Follow the bottle directions for intervals for repeat doses and maximum number of doses.

You should always have your dog evaluated by a vet rather than taking medical advice from strangers on the Internet.

If my bulldog ever has an allergy attack, my vet recomended to give him 1 of the pink tabs for every 15 lbs of body weight. For your Pit, 6 tabs of benadryl should do the trick, probably calm him down too.

Yes, you can give Benadryl. But it is better to find out exactly what the dog is allergic to and try to get him better. There is a dog allergy medicine also, Atarax I think is the name.

Benadryl can make them sleepy. Dosage goes by weight, ask the vet.

I give my dog benadryl for minor allergies as my vet directed me to. Usual dose for my shepherds ( 70-100 lbs) is one tablet every 12 hours. Does make them sleepy for abit but otherwise works great. I've used for years, but to be politically correct check with your vet before doing so.

My dog is 70 pounds and I give her 1 pill when needed, when she needs it maybe twice a day. That's what my vet told me to give her. It may make him sleepy. I've always keep benadryl on hand in case of a bee stings or spider bites. Before you give any medication to your dog ask your vet;^)
