Start by feeding her a good quality food like Canidae, Wellness, Innova, instead of toxic waste explanation found here http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqF3jnIuF9v.aAtuKe2ukYPTPhV.?qid=20070503165025AAORWGZ
When you go to feed the new food read how much to feed better quality food do not have junk fillers so you need to feed less
Then split the feeding amount into 2 meals a day mornng and night, put the food down for 20 minute if she does not eat, no food till the next meal and put the food down again for 20 minutes and take up if she does not eat don't give no treats or other foods and keep repeating, she will start eating, no healthy will ever starve themselves to death, but you have taught her that by holding out you will give her something else, so now is time to undo your mistake

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INGREDIENTS! If the first is corn, put it back, no animal by products. Try a Raw Food diet mixed with gravy. Nature's Variety: Lamb, Vension, Beef, chicken or turkey. Dogs love Raw food!! When you go raw the food is done in a round, Raw, Canned, Kibble. Canned: Merricks because the food is stewed and the meat is whole, not to mention the have about 15 flavors, Artemis, it is in standard form but is organic and holistic. Kibble: Merricks, there is three different flavors or Artemis. Get out of the main stream stores and visit a natural type of animal food store. But if you stay in the main stream stores try Buffalo Blue. Websites: www.merrickspetcare.com ; www.bluebuff.com , www.aretimiscompany.com ; www.naturesvariety.com

As far as Science Diet goes, check out the updated recalls. One brand that was not recalled recently and is easily obtainable is Nature's Recipe. It is not too hard of a kibble and all three of my dogs liked it. Wellness is a great brand, available at whole foods stores, but is more expensive.

I'd suggest a home cooked meal or raw diet, but some have a hard time keeping up with that and you have to be selective of meats since chickens and pigs were sold and now consumed by people that were fed melamine tainted dog food and livestock feed.

Dogs LOVE this!

There are a couple different approaches to your problem. One is to select a high quality food like Innova, Merrick, Candidae, Solid Gold, EVO, and put it down twice a day for 20 mins. What they don't eat you pick up until the next meal. Your dog may miss a meal or two, but that's OK, she will finally eat. This is the easiest approach.
The second way is to cater to your dog, by fixing homecooked meals or feeding raw. I have to confess that I do a combination of both, altho I'd like to go back to kibble only w/an occasional raw chicken piece. My dog's fav meal is raw chicken neck or back. You can sprinkle grated parmesan cheese , mix a small amt of broth or can food like Merrick, add hard boil or scrambled eggs to the dry kibble. OR you could cook some ground beef or chicken & add cooked white or brown rice. My dogs love their homecooked meals, but I've only made them recently after the pet food recall. I have always given cottage cheese or scrambled eggs as an occasional treat, however, and will continue to do so.

Let her go hungry. When she's hungry enough she'll eat. Some might call that cruel but it's a dog and you have to be in charge not the dog. In case anyone thinks I'm too mean; I had a dog that I loved more than anything and lived to 15 and 1/2 on my system

A vet buddy gets that question all the time. Heres what he says, a dog will wait for canned food for a day or two. But no Dog in history will starve to death as long as dry dog food is in front of him! (Considering he is healthy) Sounds like He's spoiled, but at least you have a big heart! Bless ya! Just stay away from wal marts ol'roy. Good Luck!

Do not feed her commercial dog food. With the pet food recall, it is not safe. Further, commercial dog food does not contain all of a dog's vitamin and mineral requirements. It is best to make homemade dog food for your dogs. It is easier than it sounds, and it can be less expensive than commercial dog food. Further, your dogs will love it, as it is their natural diet. There is a blog at http://www.homemadehealthypetfood.com that has recipes, and links to books on dog food recipes and the dangers and deficiencies of commercial dog food.

She's smart too: Both of those foods are on Recall with the melamine tainting.
You could try Purina. Or there are recipes out there that you can use to make your own dog food.

Just mix a small portion of water with a beef bullion cube and mix it in with the dry dog food.
