Especially when you were best friends and he posed as more than a pet to you. He died of bloat and was only 6. What are some comforting things to do or think to get over the death of him?

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy losing a beloved pet and even though most everyone here has lost a pet, and everyone knows what you're gong though, no knows YOUR pain and YOUR grief. No two people grieve in the same same way either.

I know that it's easy for me and others to tell you to try and remember the good times and the wonderful memories you shared, but I also know that is easier said than done.

I'm adding a list pf links to websites that may help you work though your grieving process, as well as a few sites where you place as free memorial for your beloved pet.

Best wishes, and again, my sincere condolences. May your beloved dog rest in peace.

Did you bury him or did you have him cremated then put in an urn? Remember the many wonderful days you shared with eachother and smile as you think of this. It's healthy to cry over your best friend. Volunteer at the shelter and help out these wonderful living beings that need love. This'll make your best friend very proud. Pour your heart out into dogs you meet and maybe one day you will be able to fill that hole that was left with your unfortunate loss. I'm so sorry for the wonderful life that left your heart, know that he is in a better place and not suffering.

You'll take some time to get used to living without him, you'll never get over it. The only thing you can do is remember the love you shared & the memories of his life. He left you to no fault of his or yours & you need to believe that which is difficult. There's not much else you can do. Do not 2nd guess yourself because there was nothing you could do to prevent this. You should feel lucky to have had him for the time he had on this world.
I am sorry you suffered this loss. But please keep in mind when the time is right, please share your love with another lucky dog.

Get some pics of him and stick them in something like a binder (if in school) or a folder you look into constantly. If looking at a pic of your dog just makes you cry, you can always find a stuffed animal that looks just like him to remember him. Sometimes, it just takes time. Try getting out of the house for a while and go see a movie. Remeber that all dogs go to heaven, and you'll see him again. Keep that in mind, and remeber all the good times you had with him. I'm sorry about him, he sounds like he was a great dog!

Im sorry to say, but you will never get over the loss of your dog. It's sad, but true. Nothing can replace your bestfriend, practically your faimily. your dog. But, a way to stop crying every minute is to focus on all the good things in your life, and be thankful that you have, what you have.

I'm really sorry to hear about that, you must really be hurting. With time, things will be better, everyday you will feel a little bit better and then one day you will be fine. I hope you can take some comfort in remembering the good times you had with your special dog.
Sorry if this all sounds cliche...

I am sorry about you dog
Take time to morn him
Maybe in six months or a year, look for a new one
A different
Look at pet adoptions
Losing something you love is hard
Moving on is hard
You will have your dog in your heart for ever

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your best friend. It is hard!!! Almost four years later my heart still aches from the loss of my Dobie boy.I even have his mate & two of their off springs and they do not take his place in my heart. You can read this poem. It will cause you to shed a tear, but hopefully you will find a little comfort in it. http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm and http://www.rainbowbridge.com

Get one more pet dear. It will give you all the love and pleasures you got from the earlier ones which you are missing now. Try to learn to adjust to situations in life and get going.
