Ive heard somwhere a while ago that to keep fights to a minimum between dogs (females espacially) that you should help establish who was first (dominant). not nessisarily showing favor to one over the other but thing such as giving the 1st dog their food first or give them a treat first so they dont get as jelous. I'm not really thinking that would help and it definatly would not be the 1st option but doe sthat pose any help/harm to them getting along better? i know the dominace thing is a big deal with some dogs. With both being younger would it even matter?

I myself have 4 Chihuahua's. They all get along great. Seeing as the pups will be a similar age it should be okay. Just make sure you don;t let the older dog feel left out.
It's good advice not to fall for the "tea cup" or "tiny toy" myth as there is no such thing. A Chihuahua is a Chihuahua. There are long coats and smooth coats, but no tea cups or tiny toys. It's just a way of bumping up the price for gullible people who have not researched before they buy. Some are bigger than others. My 3 range from 3 1/2lbs full grown to 9lbs full grown. I won't include my 4th in this as he is only 3 months old.
The very small ones are more prone to getting hurt. Little things like jumping off a couch can break a leg. A friends broke 3 toes a couple of weeks ago slipping down one step. Unless you have plenty of money to pay for vet bills it's more advisable to look for a slightly bigger one that will be around 5-6lbs or so full grown. Especially seeing as the pups will rough house together. That said my 3 1/2lb baby has never had a problem, but I'm sure he's made of rubber. *LOL*
Also the tiny ones are prone to low blood sugar reactions just like a diabetic. If you don't catch it they can die. The very small ones are better for an experienced Chi owner.
I suggest reading as much as you can on any dog before getting a pup, but especially toy dogs. Chi's are wonderful little dogs. I myself would never get any other breed after owning one.
Look for a good breeder who will answer all of your questions and expect to be asked lots in return. The breeder I bought mine from even checked with my vet to see how my other animals were cared for before he would let me have one.
Don't buy from a pet store unless it's a little mom and pop store (almost impossible to find now) The big chain stores usually get their pups from puppy mills. This can mean sick and/or aggressive pups. They tend to have many more problems than a pet from a good breeder.
Good luck with finding a great Chi baby.

some chihuahuas are good if you raise the dog from a puppy and don't tease it alot with it's mouth. if you decide to get an adult just be careful some are not nice at all. i am a dog bather and i see them once in great while and the one i see are really not nice. just the other day i had a biter that came in for a bath he was really mean. so i had to put a muzzle on him with help from his owner. also the breed is not cheap to buy as a pup. some can go for $1500 to 2000 or maybe even $800 to 900 if your lucky. so i hope this help .

I have a Chihuahua, a Yorkie and 2 Great Pyrenees. They all live in the house and get along very well. He loves to be held and cuddled but also loves to play with his big brothers(Pyrenees) and little sister(Yorkie). He thinks I belong to him but he is free to love everyone. He's not a yapper like some little dogs, but does help out with the barking if someone knocks at the door. I also have 2 cats that he also loves to play with. I love him dearly and don't think you could go wrong getting one.

I have a Chihuahua and couldn't be happier. He is a lap dog, that's the nature of the breed. Expect them to be "clingy". He does get yappy when strangers are near, but most of the time he is great. He gets along with other dogs fine. I love him dearly. Good Luck!!

Chichuahuas can be great companions & family pets. The can also be nervous & easily frightened. They are small so you must be careful & not step on them or drop them so if you have small children, you might want a bigger, sturdier, laid back dog or be willing to supervise constantly. They must be kept as house pets (not outdoors) as they are sensitive to the cold. Don't act on impulse - can you afford two dogs, not just food, but shots, neutering, heartworm meds, & med care?, are you responsible? will you keep this dog as a lifelong pet? Don't get it if you are a person who will tire of the responsibility.

They can become hypoglycemic and there heads have a soft spot that takes more time to close if you get the real tiny ones .if you get a standered one you wont have to worry about it that much and they are more sturdy then a tea cup.As long as you get the chi when its a puppy it should be fine with your other dog.

ive worked at a vets office and most owners think that they are great lil lap dogs. it all depends on how they are raised if they arent around alot of people they can become very protective of their owners. as long as you dont let then pick up any biting habits they are great with kids. they are not a very difficult breed health wise

most of the time they are great dogs if you raise them to be. i will warn you they tend to get possesive of their owners. Think a one person dog. so if you get one get them young and keep them around lots of people all the time that way they will be used to sharing you.
