Petsmart sells belly band. Put neosporin on a gauze pad over the incision and wrap her with the belly band. It is stretchy so don't wrap too tight. If not looking better within 24 hrs get antibiotics from vet

Licking it is making it worse. You need an E collar for the dog. Petsmart sells them. The incision must stay clean and dry. Only take the dog out for bathroom breaks and the bed must be clean and dry. No baths for at least 10 days after surgery. Don't touch or put anything on the incision. Some redness and swelling is normal 1-3 days after surgery but with the dog licking it, that may take longer. Of course seeing your veterinarian will be the best thing. It's possible your dog has gotten an infection and will need antibiotics and/or re stitching.

It sounds like the incision site is becoming infected. Take her to the vet and have them get a look at it. This check up is usually free after a spay. I would advise that you not let her lick it as much as you can prevent it. Get her an Elizabethan (cone) collar (from just about any pet store or from your vet) to keep her from licking it. If it is infected, the bacteria she's bringing to it through her mouth will only make it worse. Don't put this off, it's important for the vet to immediately see ANY complication that arises after an operation. Good luck.

As everyone has said, it does sound infected.
Please get this looked at by a vet asap. I would advise against wrapping the wound, infections should be left open.
Try to avoid the dog licking it. This will not help, because there is a lot of bacteria present in dogs mouths, and they can actually cause infection by licking. As people have said, it sounds like you will need an elizabethan collar from the vets to prevent further licking.

Aww...I feel your pain. My puppy just got her stitches out on Saturday from being spayed. We had some problems with her incision as well. When I called my vet they suggested neosporin on the incision and Vick's Vapor Rub AROUND the incision NOT on it. The vapor rub deters them from licking and worked like a charm for us. So after doing that for a few days we saw no change. So, thanks to advice of the wonderful people here we took her to the vet. She was having a reaction to the sutures, so they cleaned it, put ointment on it and gave an antibiotic. Her wound healed wonderfully after that and she had her stitches out and it looks great. So, either try the stuff I listed or call your vet! Good luck, it will get better. :)

You need to prevent her from licking it & apply some antibiotic ointment, similar to Neosporin. Vet could probably give you an Elizabethan collar to prevent the licking or chewing at incision or you could make one - that is a wide collar (think miniature satellite dish with a hole for the head ) or you could make one. (Look up Jeffers or Fosters & Smith catalogs online to see one.) If it becomes infected or you see much blood take her to the vet asap.

Sounds like it's getting infected. They put that weird collar on the dog to keep it from licking. I think you need f/u visit to vet, which should be free of charge.

there's a mastercard that's barely for medical suggested as the carecard. you will get authorized instantaneous ( on the vets in the event that they settle for the cardboard )and in case you pay it off quickly that's interest loose. i exploit it for unpredicted vet visits to boot as my own medical, dental and optical. interior the period in-between, proceed to bathe the incision, It sounds contaminated. i wish this helps you.
