It is really hard to rid your yard of all ticks but dont worry. when u find a tick on you or your animal. put liquid soap on a cotton ball and hold it on top of the tick for a minute or two. the tick will remove his legs from the skin and will fall off. I have done this myself and it truely works.

If you live in a wooded area, ticks will always be present. This post is in Dogs, so I say, treat your dog with a product that repels fleas and ticks. Advantage, Frontline, I believe both kill both fleas and ticks. You can treat your lawn, however, tick infestation is difficult to rid from the environment.

Frontline Plus is good for ticks and I spray mine with Adams b4 they go out if I think ticks may be there. If in your yard, mow the grass short and trim trees so their is plenty of sunshine as ticks like dark dampish places. I haven't tried the tick collars but some say they are good.

There is a product available at home improvement stores -sorry I can't think of the name-that is safe for animals that will treat the area. Keep your lawn cut as short as possible which will prevent fleas and ticks from having a place to hide and breed.

Check for ticks frequently. Get Front Line or a similar tick-repelling product for your pets.

I was shown a recipe for a bug repellant with vinegar and lemon balm or mint. You might try something like that.

Good luck!

they go where it is warm and damp like armpits and crotch area...try using something so you don't sweat so much...like baby power...and remember to cover up (put a hat on they can hide in your hair and you'd never know that they were there) and shower when you come in...if you need to prevent ticks on your dog or cat then use a once a month topical treatment like Advantage or Frontliine

if you are writing your question on behalf of your dog as its in dog section you can buy frontline that kills fleas and ticks if you are human you can put spirit or petroleum jelly on tick and carefully remove but make sure you get the head or it will get infected

You could get a sprayer and spray insecticide all around your yard. Sprinkle sevin dust around. Try using a product like OFF on yourself before going outside.

they're really bad where i live too. you just have to be really careful and check for them every time you come inside... some types carry lyme disease which can make you really sick, and possily even kill you, so you have to be careful. i don't think there's and kind of tick control for people...

Light a match, blow it out, and then stick it to the tick. It may burn a little but it wont hurt forever...
