We push everything back as far as we can on the counters and try to keep our trash can low so the dog can't get into anything but because he is so big he still manages, we've tried training him to stay off of the counters and to stay out of the kitchen but nothing works... help!

I have heard from many people that Purebread dogs tend to be more likely to have health issues than Hybrids. People say this because when 2 dogs that are more likely to get a certain problem are bred together, then the litter is at higher risk to get these certain problems. Hybrids are less likely to have problems because the genetics aren't as strong, so they have less chance. I've had 2 great mutts and one was healthy basically its whole life, and the other had quite a bit of health issues. So, my question is...Would Hybrids be at less of risk to developing certain problems, or would they be more likely to develop many problems, because they are taking on both the mothers and fathers health issues. Which type of dog would be less likely of having health issues, a purebred or hybrid. Thanks...

has anyone out there found a natural solution that works for repelling fleas from thier dog or cat? I have heard that garlic and brewers yeast are natural repellents. Also, there are many different natural essential oil sprays that contain oils such as citronella, eucalyptus etc... is there anyone that has found a natural product that works, as I am searching for one. Thanks!

ok well my daughter brought home this terrier mix that she found wondering on our farm. we own three dogs of our own a shepherd a collie and a choc lab. she wants to keep this dog but i am trying to convince her that its better if we take it into the spca . but every time i mention that she starts crying . and goes on about what will they do to him if he doesnt find a home fast enough and about what if he gets abused in his new home. she is only 8 and i really dont no what to do . i cant have anymore dogs and we have no friends or family that want the dog. and ive told her about sos(save old souls) that is a place were they do not but animals down. but she says then they probably have to stay in a kennel all day. what do i do ireally need to no

thanx

This is not a joke. I let my little dog out and she chased a squirrel up a tree in the yard. She does this a lot. This time, the squirrel jumped down on her and attacked. I don't think it bit her, but I think it scratched her eye. She is squinting that eye and shaking all over. She looks ok otherwise.

Should I just keep an eye on her and rinse her eye out? What do I do? I am hysterical!!

Well, I was outside yesterday getting something out of the car for my mom, and I noticed that my neighbor was outside. I turned to wave to him and something bad was "there". Please do not read if you're weak of stomach.

My neighbor was -slinging- around his dog by the back legs! He would hit the dog on objects and it was horrible. Finally he let go and the dog went flying across the yard. I stayed out there and waited to see if the dog was okay...it took him about 10 minutes for the dog to get up.

What should I do about this? I don't know if this is classified as animal abuse...and my neighbor has always been great friends with me...and I don't want him to be arrested. I'm also scared that if I tell anyone that they might not believe me and just call me a huge sicko kind of person. And possibly that my neighbor will sling me around by the back legs. Please help! I do not want my friend arrested because I like to talk to him and he is a good friend...but he has some anger problems...

This is the seventh day for our puppy with parvo. He is on oral antibiotics and oral medicine for vomiting. I was giving him pedialyte (human, unflavored), very little at a time, but he's still vomiting some. The time between his intake of liquid and vomiting is getting longer, is this a good sign? Should I try filtered water instead?

I'm taking care of a puppy right now. But I also have 2 cats. I'm thinking of keeping the dog but right now my cats, once so sociable and free are hiding under the bed. They never do this...unless the vacuum cleaner is running, and I don't want this to become their typical behavior. How can I get them all to live under 1 roof in harmony?
