Hello,
I recently got a golden retriever pup, I haven't even had him a week yet, hes about 11 weeks old. I was just wondering if it is normal for them to have a couple accidents in the house everyday. I take him out every 1-2 hours. Today he peed a little on my carpet after running around playing with one of my older dogs. Am I doing ok.. is a couple accidents normal?
Thanks

Why is it bad to buy a dog thats not registered by AKC or a different thing and how is it different? Also why shouldnt you buy a dog from a pet store? I got a Dachshund from a pet store and it was kept clean and you got to go in a little room and play with it so it was well socialized with. Also it had no health problems or anything so far. (I want a Chihuahua)

I have a 9 week old miniature Pinscher with huge flappy ears. Is it safe to clip his ears? If so, who can do that? My vet advise against it and won't do it. Why is this??

I have a toy maltese puppy 6 months old and I want to have him neutered. When I called to make an appt - I was asked if his testicles have dropped yet? UUUMMM Ok - no they arent there. SO I was told to call back when they drop. Can anybody tell me at what age do they drop? Now I have never owned a puppy - this is my first. I have never heard of such of thing. Can anybody enlighten me - I actaully had to laugh at first. But I also have a 6 month old female teacup yorkie and I would like to get him fixed before she goes into heat. I am planning on getting her fixed also -which brings me to the second part of my question. Can anybody recommend a low cost spay program in the 818 area code - that they trust. She is just so tiny - it scares me for her to have the operation. Thanks a bunch

It's been explained to me that dogs like the American Pitbull terrier are 'types' rather than an actual breed. The American Staffordshire terrier is a member of the American Kennel Club while the dog that most would recognize as the APBT is not -does the AKC view the APBT as a derivation of the AmStaff, then?

I need to know how many vaccines he should get, for what, approximate cost, and at what age he is to get each one? Kind of like a schedule I can keep. He'll turn 3 in June. Thanks!

I have a 14 week old English Mastiff and a friend of mine has a 12 week old Bullmastiff. There is a huge difference in size. My dog (Major) is considerably larger than the BullMastiff. Can you tell me what the average, full grown size is for both?

Yesterday, I was terrified to discover my two month old chihauhau has worms. I found one on the floor, which i thought looked like rice...then I realized it was wiggling. I started freaking out, and crying. I ran to my mother's room to tell her what I saw, and since she takes sleeping pills, she couldn't really get out of bed or sympathize me. Then, my puppy ran into the room after me, and made a poop on the floor. I was too afraid to lift her up to go to the pad...and there they were. All over her poop were those rice worms. I was screaming and crying with horror. I was so shocked...I began having a panic attack, and to make matters worse, she was crying, and when she walked, she dragged her bottom. I knew she was in some sort of pain, or irritation. I didn't know what to do, so I called the 24/7 vet, and he reassured me that I have nothing to worry about, all I need to do is take her to get a test, and then get a diwormer. But the test itself costs $82...I can't afford that. Help!

I am looking into getting a Golden retriever puppy and have been talking this very reputable breeder who's puppies are $800. They are certified on hip, eyes, heart, and elbows and come with a very good warranty, but my husband and friends tell me that I should just get one out of the local newspaper that cost about $250? What should I do?

Please help! We adopted a lil 9 week old puppy from a couple who advertised its adoption in craigslist, when we got to their place , we found it cramped it with animals..cats, dogs, birds of all sorts, they had a small place and although we were surprised at the number of animals they had, we assumed they were a kindhearted couple who adopted homeless animals and gave them a home.We paid 80$ for the lil pup as adoption fees which they said they had paid when they rescued him from a shelter. They gave us the papers from the animal shelter which specified that he was a "mini pinscher", black and tan color and was due yet for his rabies, nuetering and booster shots. The pup was adorable, we dint think much of the type of breed etc but took him.He is tan colored and looks like a mix of labrador and german shepherd. When we took him to the vet yesterday for his shots, the vet laughed at us saying the couple couldnt have said the truth when they said he was a mix of min pinscher and shepherd

I just adopted a sweet male dog from the local pound. He is about 8 months old, looks like a retriever/spaniel mix and he has been fixed. He's very energetic, full of energy.
Even though he has been fixed, he still "humps" against my other dog (who is a male and fixed) and worse, tries to exibit the same behaivor with me.
Why would a fixed male do this? And what is the best way to make him stop?

I have a golden retriever that just had puppies. When do I need to make sure the puppies are not going to the mom for milk anymore. Right now they are 8 weeks old. We are feeding them constantly puppy food. But, whenever they get a chance they always want to go to mom for milk. When does that need to be totally cut off?
Also, her breasts are hanging way down. Will they come back to normal after the puppies are gone?
