Go to the link below and plug in all your information to find the right dog. Since I don't know some stuff about you, like what your house size is, I couldn't answer some of the questions. But with the limited information of size and no shedding, I came up with the following list -
Bedlington Terrier
Cocker Westie
Glen of Imaal Terrier
Hairless Khala
Peruvian Inca Orchid (PIO)
Puli (Pulik)
Schnoodle
Scottish Terrier (Scottie)
Standard Schnauzer
Xoloitzcuintle

Every dog sheds. You need to be more specific in your needs. If you want an active dog, a working dog, etc. I suggest you check out petfinder.com or your local shelter to find a friend.

However, if you want a purebred...
A couple of my personal favorites that don't shed too much are boxers and dobermans. Make sure to get from a reputable breeder, however. Dobermans are prone to hip dysplasia and boxers can be riddled with health problems. If you buy from a breeder, make sure that the puppies and the parents have been screened. Research extensively into your choice of breeder.

You could also google your particular breed choice + your location + rescues and find rescues in your area.

I suggest a nice mixed-breed from a rescue, petfinder, or a shelter. Good luck =]

I have a 8 month Bichon Frise. They do not shed, do not cause allergies, and are so awesome. They do not like to be left alone though. She is a little smaller than a medium sized dog. Great personality too.

A basenji, bedlington or kerry blue terrier, portuguese water dog, or soft coated wheaton terrier would be a medium size and shouldn't shed. The terriers would have to be taken to a groomer on a regular schedule.

Wire haired Terriers or Terrier crosses are pretty good. Poodles and Poodle crosses also, but they need lots of grooming.

Single coated dogs on good food don't shed too much. I have Whippets, they do shed, but not a ton. Manchester Terriers also.

If it's for allergies, then skin dander is the culprit, not the hair.

If it's for your sanity then you have lots of options :)

Avoid short haired dogs with double coats...they shed lots.

regards

medium breeds hmm. bichon frise's shed very little or not at all also poodles of every size. short haired dogs tend to shed just as much as long haired ones. curly haired dogs shed less.

All dogs shed, your best bet is to go to a shelter and adopt a dog, they are usually the most appreciative and turn out to be really good pets!

And I have an eglish bulldog and they shed a TON my carpet was green. The dog is white, now the carpet is white.

Some breeds to consider-

Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier
Miniature Poodle
Bichon Frise

Most of the terriers are pretty good in terms of not shedding. However, you will need to take them to a groomer periodically to get their coats stripped of the dead hairs.

Try getting a whippet: they don't eat much(joke), they are very cute(in a skinny type of way) and they rarely shed their hair.
But: they are quite fragile dogs, they are a bit overactive and not the best guard dogs(not very scary looking :-))

I hope that helps you in terms of a possible breed to choose.
