They are still working on him, he gets to come home at night and then goes back to the vet during the day, I dont' want to give up, the vet said he is not really in pain, not yet, so as long as I can I am going to help him fight this, it has been since Monday that we put him on the medicine to repair the liver, maybe it just hasn't taken ahold yet, I don't think I can make it with out him, he is all I have in the world, I would rather die myself then to lose him, I know this sounds bad but it is how I feel, he is my baby, my only reason to get up in the mornings

and no it was not the dog food, he got ahold of something that gave him an infection or something, his fever went up to 105 and it caused his liver to get hit hard trying to fight off the infection, I blame myself, I was suppose to keep him safe, he is only 8 years old, I don't know what I will do with out him,

We took him to another vet Friday, they are going to do surgury Monday, ( tomorrow) and see what is wrong, they think maybe he has a hole in his intestines, that is causing the infections, his liver emzynes are over 3000 now, so I hope he can just make it thougth the surgury, they only gave him a 35 % chance to survive, Please help me by praying for my little guy and I will keep you guys posted on what happens next I can't live without him I love him so much,

Is that from the pet food?

Check to make sure the food isn't one of the ones recalled.

Can't comment without knowing other lab values, what he is being treated for (what caused liver disease), and what is being done at the moment.
if 3000 is the value for a liver enzyme, that is incredibley high for any of the commonly measured liver values.
your vet said it might have been infectious? Has leptospirosis been considered. This is a bacteria that attacks the liver and kidney, and people can get it as well. Ask your vet about it (i'm not saying that this is what your dog has, but you should ask for your family's saftey since people can get it).
Good luck.

Liver failure is a hard thing to go through especially with an animal so close to you. But my suggeation to you would be this although it may be hard your dog is suffering. If ehat the vet is foing is not working I would say put the lad out of his misery and put him down. Do not allow him to suffer for your own selfishness. I had to deal with this myself and although it was hard i got to remember the good times and the fact that I now know my dog does not have to suffer in pain any longer.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog!

Yes, check your dog food and see if it's one of the recalled ones or not.

Sometimes the liver starts functioning again, but more often than not it's terminal- and painful.

We can't save your baby. I'm sorry.

Oh how sad!
It is likely to be from recalled food have you been feeding it IAMS or Ol' Roy? Here's a list:

these are some recalled food that can kill your dog.
Liver failure can also be diagnosed like how people get it too, so watch your dog carefully.
My puppy is sick from both worms and recalled food, so you should be careful if he gets worms too.
