Yes, accidents are normal. However, it's up to you when you're house training a puppy to keep them close to you when they're in the house so it doesn't happen. You need to take him out after a nap, hard playing a drink or if he just hasn't been out for a while and is looking restless.
Go out with him, say "go pee", give lots and lots of praise the very second he does (or he has no way of knowing he's done it right!!) then come right back in. Puppies learn very quickly through positive reinforcement and if you don't give them the chance to make a mistake, the training is much quicker and easier on them and you.

You are doing fine. Puppies can take a long time to train "properly." I say it like that because depending on the dog, accidents do happen. My springer spaniel is three years old and when she gets super excited or afraid she still piddles on the floor a little bit.
Puppies bladders are growing like the rest of them. So sometimes accidents happen.
Just try to keep a normal schedule of going out. Leave the leash in a certain spot and use the same door if possible. This way the puppy will associate this door and that leash with going outside.
Just be patient. If you notice the dog is still having a hard time training after a few weeks consider crate training.

Accidents are completely normal with that young of a dog. As for the peeing when he's playing, that's him getting overly excited. Kind of like when people pee their pants from laughing too much. Try taking him out more often and look for signs that he's about to go or already did. I would get a kennel and everytime he makes a mess, smack him on the butt, say "bad" and put him in it until it's time for him to go out again. Stop giving him treats and he will stop thinking he's good when he messes in the house.

Absolutely! I suggest getting puppy pee pads to use. The instructions on how to use them and train your dog is on the package. I was able to house train my Miniature Pinscher within a few months. Having the pee pads also saves your carpet from any damage, although sometimes the pup does miss the pad by a few inches (you should still praise for this though because at least the pup made an effort to pee on the pad) It will take some time but eventually you will have the pup going outside. Once he is house trained you can also train him to ring a bell to tell you he needs to go. I did this to my dog and its great because we can hear the bell throughout the house.

I have a puppy that is almost a year old. They are going to make little accidents, especially when they are learning, keep taking him out every 1 or 2 hours, praise him when he potties outside, and eventually he'll be potty trained. The key is treats and praising.

Accidents are normal for all puppies. I have a 2 year old golden and I found that she was very easy to housebreak. Just be patient. It will take a few weeks. Puppies also tend to pee when they are excited. That gets better as they get older.

you are doing fine,he will have quite a few accidents for a while yet, just keep your eye on him and when you see him about to wee say no and put him outside, if you are having a problem on a night time you can buy training pads which he will learn to use be very patient with him there is no need to rub his nose in it, but show him what he has done wrong, good luck

sounds like he's doing great! an accident here and there is nothing to worry about especially with a pup that young. running around playing gets things moving, if you know what i mean. he probably just couldn't help it. if you happen to catch him, just say "OOPS!" and rush him right outside. peepee outside= happy mom/dad, praise and lots of treats! good luck :)

since you have only had him a week and he is pretty young, this is normal, but there are many things you can do to make it better......
Instead of letting him out every 1-2 hours, you need to let him out every time he wakes up from a nap, right after he eats or drinks, after he plays, and after you get him out of his crate, any time he is near the door you usually take him out.........
If you do not have a crate, you should get one........it keeps them from peeing or getting in to things while you sleep and are gone.
If possible, baracade your house so that he only has access to one room, perferrably the kitchen because it does not have carpet. not only do you know where he is, but it also makes him easier to house train if he does not have the whole run of the house....
When you take him outside to go potty, make sure you always take him out the same door, also make sure the door is a door he can easily get to (to tell you he needs to go out)
make sure that whe he goes out that door he does his business, then comes right back in.......when you want to take him out top play, go out a different door.........he needs to associate that door with going potty......you can hang a bell on the door to make it easier.......
also, try to catch him in the act, when you do clap or shake a can with coins in it to startle him then take him RIGHT outside, when he finishes outside, praise him.
he is peeing unvoulentairly.....like when they are excited to meet someone new, then that dosen't count. ; )
