Well, when I was a kid my mom raised Shih-tzu's and for a long time I loved that particular breed.
But, about 2 years ago a family gave me an older miniature dachshund and I don't think I will ever own another breed of dog in the future. Her character and personality fits right in. Even though she is older (she was a stray and the other family didn't have her long) you can tell the original owners must have really worked with her. She is potty trained and knows how to walk on a leash. She had a couple of bad habits at first that I had to break her of and people always say you can't teach and old dog new tricks, but she caught on right way. They are very intelligent!
Also, she's playful, and does the cutest things. She has a bit of seperation anxiety but I find that all the more endearing. I only wish I would have gotten her when she was a puppy so I could enjoy her company that much longer.

My favorite dog would have to be a broader range of anything from the hound group. The hounds are one the oldest groups of dogs, aiding humans by pursuing and catching their prey thus humans have continued to exist in the world. The sighthounds pursue by sight and include the fast-running dogs of greyhound build, whereas the scenthounds pursue by scent and include the more solidly built dogs of general foxhound build. Some breeds hunt by both sight and scent, and a few breeds don't seem like hounds at all. Again, all hound breeds have in common the independent pursuit of mammalian quarry. As such, they traditionally could not wait for the hunter's direction; being very independent and tending to think on their own, they led the way. Some use acute scenting powers to follow a trail. Others demonstrate a phenomenal gift of stamina as they relentlessly run down their prey. Beyond this, however, generalizations about hounds are hard to come by, since the Group encompasses quite a diverse lot. There are Pharaoh Hounds, Norwegian Elkhounds, Afghans and Beagles, among others. Some hounds share the distinct ability to produce a unique sound known as baying. You'd best sample this sound before you decide to get a hound of your own to be sure it's your cup of tea!

I can't vouch for the entire breed, but I love my English Bulldog. He is just awesome and fits my personality perfectly! I have had dogs in the past who want to wake up and play at 5:30 on a Saturday morning. Not my bulldog- he'll sleep in until 9:30 or 10 if that's what I'm doing. Also, he almost never barks, and he is a big old sweetheart, unless he thinks someone is trying to hurt me-then watch out!!!!
The thing I love most about my bulldog is how ecstatic he is to see me every day. He doesn't have much of a tail to speak of, so he wags his whole back end like crazy when I come in the door. Then when I'm bending down to put his leash on or brush him, he'll put his little paw in my hand, like he wants to hold hands with me. It's so cute!
Another great thing about bulldogs- they're really pretty easy to take care of. His hair is so naturally short that he never needs to be groomed. In fact, he doesn't even need regular baths. I'll just bathe him once a month or so, and I will wipe him down with baby wipes the rest of the time, and he stays clean! I love him to death.

Mutts. All my best dogs have been mutts. Sarge is a dobie/boxer cross. He is the best of both breeds and is an awesome all around dog. Curry is my new hound/yellow lab. He is an absolute sweetheart and very athletic. Dilly was my husky/shepard mix and was my best friend. I have almost 9 years of great memories. Dempsey was my lab/chow mix. He looked like a newfoundland. He made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. And then there was Foxy. Who knows what she was, but she looked like a little black fox. She was the most mothering dog I have ever known. She would steal kittens, puppies, or whatever little baby she could get and try to raise them. I have had purebreds too, but the mutts have been the best dogs.

I love most dogs, but right now my favorites are the Italian Greyhound and the English Bulldog. It's a little strange because they are so incredibly different, but I love them for similar reasons. They are both very affectionate dogs, with distinct looks. I enjoy the bouncy attitude of the IG, while the laid-back attitude of the English bulldog is great as well.

i had a lab greyhound cross for 10 years, he was the best dog. I grew up with labs springer's and cocker's, all purebreds. I would have another crossbred lab greyhound, because it was very smart, after the first lessons of sit stay down he had it,we proceeded to learn many more silly tricks all 10 years he was with me,and all in a short amount of time.

I have a German Shepard/Yellow Lab mix and wow he's a GREAT dog! He is quite big, but he doesnt bite, nor bark. He's really good. Even funny sometimes! Rolling around in the snow:P he's quite a character! Mutts are excellent because they have different traits in them, which makes them more enjoyable to have:)

All dogs are great, but I'm a Chihuahua Lover! I have #8 Chihuahuas, in my home now. They are small dog, with a big heart. They are very loyal, loving, clever, protective of their owners and their property, graceful, alert, intuitive, love to cuddle, adorable, very smart, they have a "look at me" type attitude, they are easy to care for, compact, and you can take them with you almost anywhere you go. They are great little watch dogs too.
