I have a toy maltese puppy 6 months old and I want to have him neutered. When I called to make an appt - I was asked if his testicles have dropped yet? UUUMMM Ok - no they arent there. SO I was told to call back when they drop. Can anybody tell me at what age do they drop? Now I have never owned a puppy - this is my first. I have never heard of such of thing. Can anybody enlighten me - I actaully had to laugh at first. But I also have a 6 month old female teacup yorkie and I would like to get him fixed before she goes into heat. I am planning on getting her fixed also -which brings me to the second part of my question. Can anybody recommend a low cost spay program in the 818 area code - that they trust. She is just so tiny - it scares me for her to have the operation. Thanks a bunch

First off your puppy needs to be examined by a vet and if not UTD on vaccinations it needs to be. A vet can tell you if his testicles have dropped or not. If they haven't dropped by now they likely won't. It becomes even more important to get him neutered if they haven't dropped..

I have a female puppy and she can be pretty crazy at times, but she is still a puppy so I can't expect much more. So far she has been great and gets along great with my two other dogs. Really it's up to you if you want a not so wild pet I'd probably go with a male, but you really can't know what it will be like until it's out of it's puppy stage.

Your vet is right, The testicles should drop first.. my vet said balls lol so much for class..At 6 months old they should have drop by now. You should take him in and let them feel around a little for ya lol. Then you can go from there. As for your little one there ....remember you get what you pay for. Remember that when you have your little one in someone Else's hands. Stick with a vet you can trust and know. Even if it does cost a little more. Good luck on finding what you are looking for lol..

Your male puppy can be neutered when he begins to lift his leg. Female puppies are usually ready around 6 months old, but I'd ask your vet for more info. Don't worry about the procedure take your puppy to a vet you know and trust that has experience in the procedure.

4-6 months old, though some vets do it a lot sooner. His testicles should have dropped pretty early on in life, but if they didn't your vet my have to "search" for them in the neutering process. Might make the bill a bit more.

He's old enough now. Don't just call your vet, make an appointment and take him in.
