Please help! We adopted a lil 9 week old puppy from a couple who advertised its adoption in craigslist, when we got to their place , we found it cramped it with animals..cats, dogs, birds of all sorts, they had a small place and although we were surprised at the number of animals they had, we assumed they were a kindhearted couple who adopted homeless animals and gave them a home.We paid 80$ for the lil pup as adoption fees which they said they had paid when they rescued him from a shelter. They gave us the papers from the animal shelter which specified that he was a "mini pinscher", black and tan color and was due yet for his rabies, nuetering and booster shots. The pup was adorable, we dint think much of the type of breed etc but took him.He is tan colored and looks like a mix of labrador and german shepherd. When we took him to the vet yesterday for his shots, the vet laughed at us saying the couple couldnt have said the truth when they said he was a mix of min pinscher and shepherd

NEVER NEVER PAY FOR AN ANIMAL UNLESS VETTING IS DONE.
A Rescue/shelter will have vetting included in the "adoption fee" you just bought someone's crap.
Call animal control on the people that is not a rescue!!!!

Well, first off, you seriously need to report these people to someone..The living conditions for these animals is not good and unacceptable. I honestly do not believe that they were a couple trying to save animals...especially since they are selling puppies out of their home. My instincts say that they are a backyard breeder. But, you really really really need to call the police or the humane society or animal control and report these people.
I seriously doubt that your puppy is miniature pinscher and german shepherd mixed. It is impossible for those breeds to breed. The Mini Pin. is probably what...10 pounds...Shepherd would be 80-90 pounds...That is highly unlikely. So, be prepared for a bigger dog. Because you have been lied to. Your best bet would be to ask the Vet what they think the breeds of the dog is. Or, if you would like, you could post a picture on here and we could try and guess what he could be mixed with.

Well first off, exactly. How are a Min Pin and a shepard going to breed? Pretty much an impossible task there. Second the only thing you can really do is ask your vet what he thinks. There is no way of telling 100%. You can make a good guess, but that would be about it. Besides... does it really matter what breed he is, if you adopted him and he is just for a pet? Just love him and care for him and dont worry what he is.

First, you should have gone to an actual shelter to adopt a dog. It probably would have cost you less than $80 and the puppy would have been up to date with his shots and neutered (or if not old enough to be neutered you would have recieved a voucher for free service).
Your vet can help you decide what type of dog that you have. He's probably a mix and it may take some time for the puppy to grow up and show characteristics of his breed.
Just enjoy the puppy and refer to him as Heintz as in Heintz 57 super mixed breed dog extradinare.

OK, you need to report those conditions. This is most likely a hoarding situation that needs to be addressed by a Humane Investigation department. Try you local humane society, animal control or sherriff's office.
Please
And get your pup tp the vet ASAP. Coming from those conditions you may find all kinds of health concerns

Doesn't sound the your typical "we feel sorry for the animals" kind of people to me. It sounds like your typical "we can make a buck off these damned things" kind of people. I would not have taken a pet from them. You are likely just supporting their money-making scheme. I could definitely be wrong, but that is why is not a good idea to get pets from strangers, unless they run some kind of certified breeding program or are an official shelter. You simply don't know what their intentions are, or their qualifications. Unqualified people should not be running pet sales operations.

there really isn't anyway to know for sure what breed your dog is without knowing who it's parents were. the only way to guess is wait until the puppy grows and see what kind of traits he has. even then, it will only be your best guess. i hope you are prepared for a larger dog, since min pins are tiny and sheperds are big! sorry to say, it sounds like you were deceived by the people you bought the dog from. doesn't sound like they are at all repuatable, so don't bring the pup back to them whatever you decide to do!

Haha that's because min pins are like 10 pounds and shepherds are like 80 pounds. There's no way they could mate!
Did your vet happen to say what mix your dog looks like? Try posting a picture online and let us look at it.

hmmm.... Would you first please call your local SPCA or other animal control agency. These people might be doing something nice or they might be a backyard breeder, hard to tell.
This is a MinPin, is this what your dog looks like?
