HI
There is no treatment for a dog with distemper but supportive therapy, if the dog is coughing they treat the cough, if it is dehydrated they give IVS, if it has diarrhea the give an anti diarrhea until the dog gets well all they can do is treat the symptons.

All the diseases we vaccinate against - distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, rabies, canine parainfluenza etc are potentially fatal.
Distemper IS treatable, but only with intensive therapy by a vet. Since this is costly and very debilitating for the dog, better to vaccinate as a precaution than to risk any of this. If ALL animals were vaccinated the disease would not survive! (pipe dream)

Distemper is a treatable disease if caught soon enough. The vet will usually start the dog on an I.V. and administer antibiotics. The biggest reason distemper kill is dehydration.

There really isn't a treatment for a dog with distemper. The best thing to do is talk to a vet and see what they suggest. Medications can be given, but it's not a 100% guarantee of curing the problem.

There are many factors to consider - Dog size, age, overall health.
I have helped several cats through distemper. The most important thing was to keep them hydrated.

distemper, parvo and others require massive amounts of antibiotics, depending on how long the sickness has developed for, others like rabies don't have a cure once the symptoms appear... ask your vet for more info
