We push everything back as far as we can on the counters and try to keep our trash can low so the dog can't get into anything but because he is so big he still manages, we've tried training him to stay off of the counters and to stay out of the kitchen but nothing works... help!

-Clear double sided tape along the edges of the counters
-Keeping the trash can covered, or behind a cabient door
- Getting a SSSCAT, it was devolped for cats that counter surf. It looks like an air horn bottle with a sensor on it. Every time the animal sets off the sensor, the SSSCAT will make a noise that will starttle the dog, then it will spray out a mist of water which really starrtles them! It really does work!
- Keeping the dog out of the kitchen with baby gates, double stack them if you have to.

The best way is to not leave any food on counters unattended and put the trash out of reach. Counter surfing is a crime of opportunity.

I am specialist in dogs. Dogs don't understand what humans say...which is obvious. Dogs only hear the tone of voice. If the tone of voice is angry, the dog gets scared, if the tone of voice is sweet and nice, the dog isn't scared. What you need to do is sort of yell at the dog, but try not to scare it. When the dog does what u want, give it a doggy treat and a belly rub and say,"Good (name), u are such a good little doggy." I can garauntee this will work.

At almost any pet store you can get a type of spray that dogs/cats dont like. Just spray it and your dog will stay away.
