Does anyone else love the smell of dogs? Not primped up perfumed dogs, but natural dogs. I just love their smell. What do you think of their smell?

Ok,here is my problem... I have two Siberian Huskies,A desexed male of 3 years and my female is not desexed as we will breed her in future, she is 1.She had her first heat at 6 months and no problems only it went for a month. This time around its a different story..She has been on heat for a week and the two of them are best buddies as always except for yesterday.I woke to hear one of them squealing in pain and to my surprise they were bum to bum,STUCK. His willy was twisted and he was trying to get away, they were running in opposite directions, blood everywhere. We separated them and took my boy to the vet, thankfully no permanent damage. He was baffled as although they TRY to mate when desexed, there is usually no success. I try to keep them apart now as im worried it will happen again but they both howl. What do i do??? My girl has undies on inside so they can play and not get up to mischief. But cant leave them on when outside. Please Help!!

She was at the vet last week for blood tests and she is fine. She is being spayed soon thats why we had blood tests.
She ate wednesday and after eating, dry heaved. Was okay after. Thursday she ate okay, evening okay after eating. Then dry heaved. Friday too once. Today she just ate dinner, then dry heaved, drank water, dry heaved. She is having normal bowel movement and her urine is okay. She is playing and being her regular self. What could it be. Her vet is closed now, taking her in the morning asap. What could it be. She had the drops in her nose for kennel cough last week everything is up to date.

I first noticed this when my dog was a puppy. While he ate food he would tip over onto his two front paws (he would be practically vertical and his back paws would be up in the air, like a handstand). After awhile he stopped doing after he nearly died of hypoglicemia (?). But now i've seen him do it all the time! It's been about eight months since i saw him do it last. It's so0o0o weird. Why does my chihuhua do this?

Our dog had puppies and we have decided to keep one. Our mother dog is fully house trained, and uses a doggy door. We did not crate train her, but I would like to do this with the new pup. Is it fair and okay that one gets the run of the house while the other is in the crate, or is that just cruel? Please give reasons why as well! Thanks for all positive answers!!!

My best friend has recently adopted a dog, who for some reason tries to bite visitors (he's luckily never actually managed to bite someone), and therefor has to go in his crate the whole time visitors are in the house. At first we thought it was not knowing the difference between a visitor and a burgler, but now we think it might be signs of stress or insecurity.
He's fine when he is put in the crate, he doesn't bark or anything, and doesn't show any signs of distress at being crated, he seems more calm than when he is out of the crate.

Any idea's on how to tackle this problem?
To me it seems like he thinks he's top dog and has to protect the rest from everyone else and doesn't know the difference between friend and foe yet..... but my thoughts might be waaay out there:-))

Anyway, like I said any tips or thoughts would be appreciated!

I am in charge of picking up after my dog :( and its really gross. Please tell me if there is anything I can do to stop him from pooping throughout my backyard. Is there anything I can use to make my cleaning job easier? Can I train my dog to poop in a certain spot in my backyard?

Our 6 year old lab has never done this before. When we leave the house she is getting things (food, paper, plastic bags, etc) off the counter and either chewing them up or eating them. Would prefer not to crate her when we leave the house....any ideas on how to stop this behavior?

He always fallows me everywhere i go in the house, every room. He’s basically my shadow, at the dog park he refuses to play with other dogs and just lingers around me to play fetch with him. When one of my friends takes the leash and i walk away he starts whining and bitching like there’s no tomorrow, when i play around with my friends or get into a fight with my brother he jumps in like a lassie and tries to rescue me. How can i make him less dependent? Its not like he’s a puppy he’s about 3 years old or so. it gets annoying at times very annoying. If i lock him out of my room he starts making weird grumpy noises. The hole fallowing me around the house is the worst. He sleeps behind my chair and gets in the way of walking around.

Ok... so i have a dog. His name is Dante and he is a chow chow. Something happened to him when he was still a puppy... at least thats what i think. He has always been very skitsy (sp) around people. When it comes time to brush him, give him medicine, or put stuff on his back for fleas.... its like he's a totally different dog. He gets very scared. Now.... i can brush him... but everything else is the same.

So... my question is... what are some good exersises i can do with him to build his trust in me???

THANK YOU!

I have a two-year old male Boston Terrier. He is great! He is well trained loves to play fetch all day and is good on a leash and most of the time we can just walk around without one on him and he sticks right with me. However if I leave him in the car for a few minutes and go out of site he goes INSANE! He tore up some of the upholstery in my car once. Also it's the same if I leave him at home. I live in a house with 5 other room mates and I've tried to keep him in a pet crate but he makes too much noise and if I don't pin him up he'll chew stuff up and pees and poops on the floor even if I've let him out before I leave. I'm pretty sure it's separation anxiety because it's just when I go out of his line of site. He's perfectly fine if I put him in the crate and I stay in the room. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have room mates but he wines and yelps so loud when I'm gone. Can anyone help me?

We're planning to take a long car trip with our dog soon, and I'd like to be able to locate vet clinics and boarding kennels in towns along the way if we need them. Does anyone have a link or suggestions for finding vet clinics and kennels along the route?
