I have a dog who is almost 2 yrs old and she is a pointer black lab mix and a couple other things. She is very energetic and in the house she is always pacing and walking around. We hook her up to the leash outside and she lays down. We bring her back int he acing and wlkaing around starts up again. When I walk her she acts liek a fool, walking around me and not heeling. She is the one running the show. I try ot giver her enough attention and I'm only 14 so training classes isn't really in my budget and my rents rn't for it. So does anyone have any tips? I can't really play fetch with her becasue off the leash she runs as fast as she can away... thats pretty fast if you know how fast pointers can run. Please help.... I feel I'm letting a great dog down!!!

I have a 85 lb, 1 year old chocolate lab. he has been itching and licking himself constantly. he didnt used to have flees as bad before the itching and licking, but now he has quite a bit. his coat was perfect and the first thing i noticed was a sore, right above his tail at the bottom of his back. and it slowly went up. and im not sure if he even created the initial sore and what followed because hes been itching and licking so much when im not around i couldnt tell. we've been using different food over the past 3 months to see what he likes. he pretty much eats it all so its hard to tell what food would be the problem if the problem at all. im pretty sure its allergenic, even though the sores are on his back., he has inflicted scratches badly all over his body. and continues to lick and lick, sometimes he wines and continues. even though we try to stop him everytime, he is constantly still doing it....

When I run or walk with my dog she always tugs and is leading the way. Shes almost a 2 year old pointer lab mix so shes very energetic and strong. I feel she needs to get rid of this excess energy but when she acts liek a fool I just don't want to anymore. She yanks fom side to side and if she ses other dogs she goes crazy running back and forth. I'm only a 14 yr old girl and jogging and holding a dog who is in more control than me is difficult. Shes very sweet tempered but she just needs to calm down a bit.

My Norwegian Elkhound ROCKS. I am dead serious, I've had dogs for over 40 years, and never had an Elkhound before this year. He is simply the most incredible companion I have EVER had. He is completely housetrained, rings a bell to go outside, goes to "bed" when I tell him to, and listens very well. Whoever said that Elkhounds were difficult to train .. was full of BUNK! My elkhound follows me where ever I go, is an EXCELLENT guard dog, and is a jovial, sweet natured animal. He never goes out of the yard and his worst offense is digging a hole or two but only very rarely. He loves to go for rides in the car, and is an excellent passenger. One word from me and he lays still on the seat and doesn't move. This dog is the most intellgient animal I have ever seen. One night when I was sick in bed this dog did NOT MOVE from my side or my room. Incredible! He is still only a year old and knows how to control his mouthiness and never hurts me. I LOVE HIM SOOOO MUCH!!!! :)

I can understand having animals fixed, there's a darn fine reason for advocating that, but why do selective ear cropping or tail chopp[ing if it's elective and the animals actually gains nothing from it? Surely it's all about the owner's vanity? Thank GOD people have started realising how stupid it is and are phasing it out and not doing it any more. What's your view?

I have a 9 month old enlgish mastiff, she eats anything that is wooden. Counters, cabinets, baseboards and the walls. What is the best way to stop this breed from literally eating you out of house and home?

I rescued a two year old Shar-pei lab mix. She is adorable and the sweetest thing. However, she doesn't want to do anything. I have to drag her out for walks and she won't play ball or play tug - o-war or anything. I've taken her to the vet and had all the necessary tests done to make sure there was nothing physically wrong with her. She turns out to be a very healthy dog, but she shows no interest in playing or being active. Is there anything I can do to coax her out of her sendentary way of life? I love her just the way she is, but I think it's kind of strange for a dog as young as her to be so lazy. Any suggestions?
