I have a 9 month old enlgish mastiff, she eats anything that is wooden. Counters, cabinets, baseboards and the walls. What is the best way to stop this breed from literally eating you out of house and home?

i have an old english mastiff and i did a lot of research on them. first of all row hides are bad for any dog they bit small pieces off and they can nod digest them real bones are best as for her eating wood she is bored you have to walk her attest 30 min a day and fined a game she likes she is steal a pup she needs a lot of activity even more if she's an inside dog but even if she's an outside dog she needs entertainment mastiffs are steal pups until their 2.5 to 3 years old good luck and be patient

Mmm...the best way is to disallow the dog into the house. If you are like me, we love our pets...so...I guess this is not an option. Perhaps buying your dog is huge chewable bone is a good idea so that, ideally (let's hope) it would eat the bone the whole day long?

Training the mastiff would work; a little tough in the beginning, but it sure instills discipline for a long time to come. Punishing the dog when it eats wooden stuff by showing a sour face and not playing with it; rewarding it if it doesn't bite on anything. Step by step, this might work :) Good luck...

Not for sure, but she's still a pup and pups will chew. Most dogs start chewing on things they are not supposed to because they are bored or because the owner doesn't give them a choice of things to chew on. Buy some chew toys of different kinds and see what she likes best, then stick with that. Good luck.

It sounds like she is suffering from seperation anxiety. My dogs did the same thing for about 3 weeks. Look this up. If you don't put a stop to it. It will end up costing you a lot of money. Mine chewed up 2 pairs of brand new $60 shoes, a $100 shampooer, and my bed.

I see many have already suggested chew toys and a big "Compressed " rawhide chew is a good choice.

The important issue that has not bee addressed is exercise.
I am willing to bet ,if that dog is boredom chewing ,She is not getting enough exercise{Minimum 2 ,45 min walks}
Exercise your pup, get her some(Many) toys to chew and catch her in the act of inappropriate chewing and correct her.

probably you have a KONG ??

Shes going through teething & other puppy issues Or BORED most likely
bored dogs find things to entertain them selves

- Give her TONNES of exercise play with her walk her , let her play with doggie friends, train her daily & soon she will be to tired to destroy things

- I knowa man wihth a great danethat would eat couches, tubberwear & it's contents, kitchen counters & numerous other things, as wel as a basset houndwho atea car dash board & the car seats down to the springs - both left alone bored .....
Get her up & out to wear her out !!!

She may be teething. Instead of thinking about what you don't want your dog to do, think about what you DO want her to do. Give her something safe and acceptable to chew on and don't let her out of your sight until you feel she is trustworthy with the new rules.

You need to get crates for your dogs. This is not a situation that will solve itself! Dogs do what is reinforcing - and if they have to sneak around to chew up all of your belongings, then that's what they'll do. You must stop this behavior - and you'll need to crate them to do it.
Dogs have died from eating electrical cords, garbage, and other indigestible things. Please be a responsible dog owner and don't let your dogs do this any more.

she is lacking other things to chew on. but some tough rawhides and when you see her chewing on anything she is not supposed to, give her a sharp "no" and give her a rawhide to chew on instead. or you could use bitter tasting spray in her favorite chewing spots. be careful not to get it on you though. some are very strong. once i tasted the same taste while i was eating a sandwich. it was horrible.
