I like the mastiff because of there powerful looks but I like the golden retriever for being a lay back family dog.There both great dogs.

Well are you talking about Pitbulls? If so mine is really nice, I also have a golden retriever she is the sweetest thing ever but she don't like to play as much as my American Mastiff

Mastiff, they are rough and tuff dogs. Great protectors and good companions. But Golden Retrievers are also good dogs. They are very active, love the water, also great protectors and also a great companion. Both dogs train well if trained right. Of course golden retrievers are prettier in a sense. But they are both lovable dogs.

Golden Retriever, just cause I know it better than Mastiff, haha. Mastiffs are amazingly good with kids though.
To answer another posterm no it's not a pittbull.

Based on looks, personality and temperament; I'd go with the Golden Retriever.

Most of the mastiffs just because the golden is so common/popular. But, I prefer terriers and spaniels.

Overall, a golden retriever. Much more of a family pet.
Beautiful, loyal, calm, playful, gentle.. great dog. Very active.
