I bought a pup late last year from a reputable breeder who shows all of her dogs (including this ones mum). I'd like to be able to breed from my stud (the pup) when he's old enough because he has such a fine pedigree, lovely temperament and is absolutely stunning but I've read some other posts which say it's not wise unless the dog is shown himself. I personally don't have a lot of time to show him but I'd be willing if it meant we could breed. Any advice on how to get started?

We have a 3 month old pup. We are with her almost all the time, however there are times when we have to go somewhere and can not take her. Is it ok that we leave her in the bathroom with food water and puppy pads or sometimes (if the weather is good) outside in her dog run?
We really dont leave her alone often, and she is pretty involved with us and sleeps indoors. I just worry if this will be bad for her. The longest we ever leave her alone is like no more than 4 hours.

I'm going on a trip for two weeks, I'm wondering if that will be long enough for my four-month-old puppy to forget about me - she will be staying with other family members. We've had her for about two months - will she remember me "forever", or how long before she forgets who I am?

My little dachshund (my fourth one-so I understand that personality) is sooo bossy to me-- I don't do what he wants but was just wondering if other people have a little dog bossing them all day too-lol. Please have some fun with this question - tell us some stories of your bossy little dogs- anyway have a great day!! Kathy

for some reason I am really having trouble with finding a good breed of dog for my family, so i want to know if anyone can give me some ideas!!! (i know it is kind of long....)
i want the dog to be medium to large but not over 100 pounds:)
and to be a loving breed that will not kill my cats, i do not mind if the dog is not overly affectionate just a bit at least. i do not want a vicious dog but i do want a dog that will protect me if necessary. i can give it at least 1 hour of exercise a day and will be home from 3 pm onward everyday. i live in a medium sized house with 2 kids ( 10 and 13) and in a subrural area. i have no allergys and dont mind shedding:)

Thanks for the answers

I heard from a friend that Alpo Dry pet food is also on the recall list. I went to Menu Foods and Alpo websites and none of them say anything about it. Has anyone else heard about this?

I heard there are pills to control the urges, she also never hangs out around other dogs so the risk of her getting pregnant is very low...

I have two miniature pinschers. One is a male who is 4 yrs old. He understands "no" & "bad" and his behavior is easy to control. The other is a female who is almost 2 yrs old. She is the complete opposite. She does not understand "no" or "bad" and barks constantly. I adopted her from a rescue 3 months ago. I have tried using other words and different tones in my voice but still with no success. She barks out the window, at the cat and when people come to door. How can I get her to stop?? She does understand how to "sit" and "lay down" but if she's not rewarded immediately she begins to bark and comes after me to get the treat herself. Please help.

My Lab will sit beautifully on command, but when I try to get him to lay down, he just stands up to get the treat on the ground. I tried gently holding his bottom on the ground, but that didn't work either. If I drag the treat on the ground, he just gets up and follows it. If I try to pull his front legs forward into the "down" position, nothing happens. Since he's a Lab, I can't exactly pick him up and lay him on his side either. Help!

My dog got sprayed last night and in the past when this happened I bought special shampoo that didn't work. What is the best way? Tomato juice? Dawn dish soap?
