I have two dogs and the boy dog is always following me around the house and lying down next to me. If he can't see me, he starts barking as if in a panic. I've done so many things to help alleviate his separation anxiety (i.e. long walks/runs; changing the times I leave the house; ignoring him) but he just freaks out when I leave hime alone. The only thing I can do is just let him bark it out. I took him on a two hour hike one time and he was super tired, but he still had energy to bark when i left him alone. Is there anything that can calm him down? The girl dog is just fine when I leave her alone. She doesn't make a sound. They're both american eskimos.

I have a miniature pinscher. On her second "period" she & my male miniature pinscher did "did it" I'd say about 2-3 times. The thing is she really showed signs of being pregnant after she got out of her period. She got very sleepy, tired, always resting, her nipples got a little bigger (at least 6 of her 10), and she is fatter. About 25-28 days after we took her to the vet & the blod test was negative. The vet said she could still be pregnant, that some dogs got negative blood results & then they gave birth to 1 or 2 puppies. She also said that we had to wait. My dog is around 45 days now & she is still sleepy & fat (she hasn't gained much weight since all this started -- but she is definitelly fatter than she normally is). I don't know what to think. Please help me.

I have a pug and a pug mix,and we're getting another pug today, and I just can't remember if the ears stay pretty much proportionate to the size they are when small,or if they kind of grow into them as they get older and are slighter smaller in proportion as an adult. Just wondering, thanks. :)

Well, first, there was the Iams Cruelty story, which happened before I got my dog. Thats why i never bought Iams when I did get my dog.

Now I am very thankful I didnt ever feed it to him, because of the recent founding of rat poison in the food.

I think Iams should loose their license to own a pet food company. If that doesnt happen, they will go bankrupt. Either way, they will be shut down.

What do you think?

We have this 8 week old puppy, and she's a rat terrier, shih-tzu. She's a real sweet puppy most of the time, but it's just sometime's, she attacks you with these evil growls. And there not just your back off I'm busy growls, they're these biting, skin breaking teeth showing growls. Why does she do this?

There is an abandoned dog in my neighborhood that is a bit fear-aggressive. He will not come closer than 10 feet to anyone, and when people have gotten closer he tries to bite.

I've been talking to the dog at his safe distance for about a month now, trying to get closer to him. I get down at his eye level and just talk to him about how pretty he is, and about the weather. Sometimes he wags his tail when I talk to him, but his eyes stay full of fear.

Anyway, recently I had a groundbreaking day. I went to talk to him like normal, but this time he came all the way up to me - licked my face!!!! and then he rolled over onto his back and did not move (I rubbed his tummy and he was stiff as a board).

Was he trying to say that he wants me to be his master, or was he just scared sh*tless?

I did not get to analyze the situation completely because someone came running up to me all excited and the dog took off.

First of all, they are Shetland Sheepdogs (a.k.a. Shelties or mini-collies) and the breed is notorious for barking. They are very happy, playful dogs and well-trained otherwise. They bark when they are excited which is often or when they see a squirrel, rabbit or deer which is often as well. This isn't an issue with us but our anal neighbor who sleeps all the time and has called animal control on EVERY neighbor with a dog which is just stupid. This is also a man who had the police come to his house for shooting rabbits and squirrels in a residental area. Anyways, these dogs don't have any problems. They ARE NOT barking because they are lonely. I don't work and spend atleast 12-16 hrs. A DAY with them so thier barking isn't a cry for attention. We've tried scolding which I think is cruel as well. Kids get noisy when they're playing outside and we don't scream at them (unless you're a trailer trash Mom). I want to try the citronella collar first. I won't try the (cont'd)

does this mean that the wheat that is getting dogs sick is in the human food supply also? just a thought to think about.

I believe mixing a hunting dog with a companion dog is just a horrible idea. Beagles have the highest shelter rate, meaning there's more of them in the shelters than any other dog. They're hunting dogs and should be used as such. They don't make great house pets due to their high energy level, and their need for run. Lately, when checking petfinder I've noticed that there are more and more "puggles" appearing for adoption. Do these "puggles" take after the beagles temperment, and then after the puppy stage people realize they can't handle them? So it would seem. People shouldn't be encouraging this type of breeding.
