I am still trying. I thin it gets worse the more you have. We kept them in a kennel at night, and still do. i use puppy pads by the back door, and let them out frequently during the day.
The premise behind the kennel is they will not go to the bathroom where they sleep. You keep them in there at night, then let them out as soon as they wake. Start them on a puppy pad, then slowly move the training pad towards the back door.
This works for most breeds, but Yorkies are different. They are stubborn, vocal, free spirits fiercely loyal, and loving. Enjoy your new family member, and invest in Nature's Miracle ( takes out pet odor)

OH they can be difficult. My oldest was the best as I use to go out with her every hour. that way I got to have a cigarette while she did her job as I did'n't smoke in the house. Now I know longer smoke at all. She went for a 5 hour car ride with me and refused to go pee because she was not at home .She finially went when we got to Boston. I have another that is pee pee pad trained. as she was from birth. She knows where it is and if it is used to many times she will pee on the floor beside it so it best be clean. She will go outside as well. They sure are stubborn. You just have to be more stubborn and remember they have small bladders so they can not hold a lot of fluid. I have a 1 year old that I am still working with, but is hard when I have a 4 year old child that pee's and poops on the floor. They will both learn eventually. That is why i don't have wall to wall carpeting. oh and if he or she has not been fixed sometimes that will help. None of mine are fixed. take that back my oldest now 9 was fixed 1 year ago.

Dogs are best potty trained when pups right from the litter to the new owner. Box training has worked for our 17 pups we had that grew to adult old age. First mess after being in new home wipe up with rag and take outdoor to 'designated' potty area and ancor on a stick into the ground. Next set up small box no more bigger that the pup, and make sure it is tall, because any pup worth his salt will be able to jump out otherwise. Place pup in box for all sleeping and naps. Don't slack away from this no matter how much he crys at night. If he should happen to mess in his box which is doubtful, because dogs or pups don't like to sleep in their mess ,(reason for box not being big enough for him to move to other side and mess) change box entirely. Make sure you take him outside to 'his potty area' after sleep, eating, playing and naps in the box. Must pay attention because catching him right away after these activities is crucial. Show him his special designated potty area and he will start to go there. after a couple of weeks, he will now know this is his spot and may even be able to recognize the door out to the area and go sit there and wait for it to be opened to him. The box will teach him to hold his bladder all night and he must continue to use it for sleeping until you feel comfortable that he can hold it all night long. This is important because this step will determine weather or not you will be getting up in the middle of the night to let your adult dog out to potty even though he is house trained. We had one that absolutely would never mess in the house, but would come sit on our chests inches from our face at night to be let out because he could not hold it all night long. If you follow this procedure to a tee, you'll be pleasantly suprised how well it works. Most of the success depends on the owner and the delligent attention given to the pup. good luck

The only thing that worked was to show the dog that I was the boss by holding her down as the pack leader would and not letting her up until she quieted. When we had that straight then she was taken out every two hours day and nite. When not going out she stayed in her crate. Coming out only to be played with. She has her bluff in on you. Get yours in on her now. They are very stubborn little dogs. They have no idea they are small. Try this . Will take awhile but it has to be done and is worth it in the long run.
