I only ask because I was gardening and someone let the dog out without me knowing. By the time I saw her it was too late! She probably got two mouths full.

Only if they are salty. Dogs can't tolerate too much salt.

In reference to the above answer: The world's oldest dog, listed in the Guinness book of records last year, was a 27 year old Border Collie, named Brambles..She was raised entirely on a vegan diet of lentils, rice and fresh organic veggies in season..This years oldest dog is a Australian cattle dog named Jerry, (soon to be 27) who has been fed nothing but emu an kangaroo for all of his life.

So, it is amazing how little we KNOW about canine nutrition.

I have never heard of them being harmful; hopefully they're unsalted. Dogs do eat squash, sweet potatoes, and the like. These are the known harmful seeds/pits: Apple seeds, cherry pits, peach pits, pear pits, plums pits, and apricot pits because they contain cyanide, which is poisonous. Did your dog eat many seeds? Even if the seeds should contain minuscule amounts of cyanide, the dog would probably have to eat more than a few to have any ill effect. The more cyanide in a seed, the more bitter tasting and unappealing to a dog. If it makes you feel better, call your vet's emergency number ASAP just to be on the safe side.

Any type of veggie, if given often enough, will harm a dog. Dogs are canines, they eat meat. The stomach of a dog is not able to digest veggies of any type.

Now, I know of a person thast gives his big Lab a carrot stick as a treat. But as a treat, not as regular food. (And yes, you are thinking why is most commercial dog food 80% "gunk".)

If you fed your dog what it really wanted, it would be a wolf and not a dog. The household dog will eat the junk you feed it and get by on it since it does not have to expend energy to hunt every day.

Don't give the poor booger the seeds. It won't help, unless as a training aid to get him/her to obay. (Some dogs like cheese. They can't do a good job on that either. Just wait until your "puppie" drops a cheese or veggie fart! Then you will know that the dogs gut can't handle it. Then you get to clean up the poop!)
