He's not eating much and every time I say something to my parents, all they have to say to me is, "he is getting old", or "he's gonna be fine".It seems like I can't get any help around here. I need advice!

Dogs can be much like elderly humans, and sleep more while they eat less as they age.

If you have money of your own, take your dog to the vet for a check-up. They may want to do a number of tests, so you should figure out beforehand, what you will be able to afford, so you don't feel bad about turning down some of the things offered.

With an elderly dog, a urinalysis and a blood panel are basic tests. The urine testing will tell them if there are issues with the kidneys, which is not uncommon in elderly animals. The blood tests can indicate potential organ problems and also whether there is an infection in their body.

Until you can get this done, just make them as comfortable as possible, spend as much time with them as you can, and feed him by hand if that helps. A dog spends their whole life giving their whole self to you, and when it comes to their laters years, it is time to give back.

Bless your heart this is a bad time for you. Do you have a vet who can help u decide what to do? If not try tempting him with some cooked chicken or turkey. Are you feeding him dry food? Sometimes older dogs have a hard time with dry hard food because of their teeth. Smell his breath and see if his breath smells sweet or foul or metallic. Either way could signal a problem that the vet should see him for.

It is so hard for you. Does he sleep a lot? Does he still like to play the games he always liked?

If all else fails he needs is to have you with him as much as is possible. He needs a soft place to lay because his poor body hurts on a hard surface.

Don't get too upset with your parents. They know that there are times that you just have to let them go

Um, yes I agree.
The vet knows everything and anything, so go ask him/her.
