I don't think there are certain breeds that will always runaway when they are off leash. I have seen mastiffs to chihuahuas off leash. The level of training is what helps with this problem. If you train your dog to come when called then there should be no problem;however, if you do not get the proper training most dogs are likely to ignore their owners and possibly run away when they are "free" from leash constraints. I own a pit bull and lab mix and a basenji mix. The Pit/Lab was trained to come when called and walk off leash so he always listens; but, the Basenji mix was not and she cannot be let off leash. **TIP** When you are training dogs to come when called OR just to call them back NEVER call them in an angry tone because they lean that when they come when called they will be reprimanded. There are certain breeds that love to run and chase animals (mostly dogs from the herding group and terriers ie: Border Collies) I hope this helps your friend!!! GOOD LUCK!

Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn't going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don't be one of them.

Any dog not trained to walk with its owner is likely to run away when off leash. Dogs will not stay with the owner if there is anything that they think is more fun to investigate. Tell your friend that she/he should find a local training school and start basic obedience. If walking off leash is important to your friend then they will want to go on to advanced classes that will include achieving this behavior.
Good luck to your friend.

my chihuahua when she's outside wont go away from 4 feet near me i don't know if gorda is a special situation of if all chihuahuas are like that. i do know, however, that most terriers are likely to run while off the leash because of their hunting instincts especially Scottish terriers who love to chase small animals like cats, birds, and even fish! They should never be let off the leash, I know that my lab and my pom would book it out the door any chance that they got.

Im no expert on dogs but I do think alot of it is in the training of the dog as well as the breed. But, terriers are hyper so thats out, small dogs are out. I know, a black lab sounds great. They are very loyal and very smart. They are very loving too. Golden Retrievers are good dogs. Bull dogs are very smart and obedient. They are so cute too. I grew up with one. Miss him. Good luck

Really, you cant judge a dog's ability by it's breed.
Errmm I would suggest training your dog. Small dog's like chihuahua's are known to come on commands. Big dogs. Are kinda hard to handle.
